Now someone do something like that with the game too 🤣

Oh I meant for the particular game. New screen + loader that sets the right colours. Or would that be up to someone else to do that?
A dsk and a cpr have been made with the new loading screen.

abalore

Please everyone take care of not mixing the altered versions with originals within collections.
That would be dangerous for the preservation of the Amstrad legacy.

Gryzor

That's a good point, maybe filename at least could reflect the fact.

That's the name of the zip file. The files inside are more specific.

An alternative loading screen for Bruce Lee:

Here's a CDT with the alternative screen

I keep on with the homage to Juan Giménez. Ke Rulen los Petas this time. Which could be roughly translated as: Keep the Joints Going On. The old times where censorship was almost non-existent with videogames in Spain.
Here's also a CDT with the alt screen.

Here's a crack of Bruce Lee with @Brundij's new loading screen in DSK format.

There are a couple of bugs in the game that can occur if you play it for a long time, but the crack fixes these. :)

Brundij

It's been a while so I made a couple more:
I didn't know Livingstone Supongo had a different loading screen on PC so I adapted it for the lulz. And Mr Heli didn't have a loading screen.

Brundij

Back to the old ways. A screen for Tempest that didn't have one, and a CDT with all together.

Love what I'm seeing here.

@Brundij - Quick question. Are you converting dsk images to cdt and is there a way to select the different type of loaders.

Just wondering how the process is done as I'd love to be able to update Nich's bugfixed Bruce Lee to a CDT if possible.
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

I just do the images. Then, Trocoloco another member of the forum is who makes CDT's and DSK's as he knows how to do it and likes to tinker with different kinds of loaders. I can only know to do loading screen compilation CDT's with a single kind of loader (CNG loader) and because he prepared a couple of template asm files I know how to fill. I barely have any programming knowledge.

If I'm not wrong, so far Trocoloco was able to create CDT's with variations of the zx spectrum loading routine (Dinamic, Topo, Zigurat...) Loriciels loader, the aforementioned CNG loader, OTLA and like with Tempest, Unilode loader.

I'll tell him about the fixed Bruce Lee one.

Cool! Thanks for the reply. Was curious about how the process was done. :)

One for Exolon from a C64 one that seemingly wasn't ever used.

In mode 1 from the Atari ST. Choose your favourite flavour.

ervin

Strange, the ST image looks very bland, with not much in the way of vibrant colours.
Despite being only 4 colours, the CPC image looks much brighter and more inviting!

Sykobee (Briggsy)

Certainly having more colours to choose from doesn't mean you are able to pick a vibrant choice that pops on screen. Also the guy's right leg in the C64 version is very short :)

It's interesting to note the 'wide-pixel' versions attempted the visible face through the visor (as the box art has), but the 'square-pixel' versions just chose to have a simple reflective surface look to it instead.

By the way the Amiga version is oddly even more drab and while also based on the box art, it's a totally differently drawn image.

I'm a bit conflicted over which of the redone CPC screens I like better.  I think the Mode 1 looks cooler in general but I have a lil thing where I like the loading screens to match the style of the game itself for consistency (I'd often get disappointed when a lovely bold bright colourful Mode 0 loading screen would give away to a drab, boring looking Mode 1 game.  Not all Mode 1 games looked bad, obviously but... going from a 16 colour loading screen to 4 colour game often felt a bit of a downgrade to me) and Exolon is a Mode 0 game.  Also I like the characters on the loading screen to reflect the ones you actually see in-game too and the CPC sprite was a mixture of green, red and blue as opposed to the all white of the Spec/C64 versions that look more like the character in the loading screen.

Weirdly the sprite in the Amiga/ST versions is some blue suited guy who looks a bit more like Turrican than the character shown on the box/loading screen.
Favorite CPC games: Count Duckula 3, Oh Mummy Returns, RoboCop Resurrection, Tankbusters Afterlife

Don't worry, Trocoloco is preparing the usual CDT and a DSK with a trainer that among the usual cheat choices you can select wich screen will load. At least it's what we have in mind. It all depends on his coding skills. Mine are close to zero  :P

@Brundij - I see you like colors yellow and red, but I think skin on picture for Toi Acid may look better with colors 25,16,7 instead 24,15,6. I admire your pictures. :)
In STARS, TREK is better than WARS.

Thanks a lot. I was following the original picture and it's a quite saturated one. I think your combination works well, but there was also more stuff to colour or adjacent motifs that need to be highlighted in some way and the palette is limited so i have to choose what works well with the few colours I can use. Sometimes decisions are made on the fly and don't remember now why I chose this or that. :D   Also since I use patterns of 2 colours I can combine colours I'm using to recreate ones that are not in the palette so Yellow and Red in a proper monitor should look orange -ish. Also I'm still learning how to do things this way and there's always room for learning.
And finally It depends a lot on how the original image is scanned but I used this one.
