Title: Adventure "CIA" -
Post by: SRS on 19:33, 13 February 16
One more for all text adventure friends out there:

[attach=2]

QuoteYOUR MISSION IS TO RECOVER A RUBY THAT IS BEING
USED IN TOP SECRET GOVERNMENT PROJECTS AS A PART IN A LASER PROJECTOR.
YOU WILL HAVE A PARTNER WHO IS NOT TOO BRIGHT AND NEEDS
YOU TO TELL HIM WHAT TO DO.

USE TWO WORD COMMANDS LIKE:
GET NOTEBOOK   GO WEST  LOOK DOOR

SOME COMMANDS USE ONLY ONE WORD. EXAMPLE: INVENTORY

IF YOU WANT TO SEE CHANGES IN YOUR SURROUNDINGS TYPE: LOOK

THE RUBY HAS BEEN CAPTURED BY A SECRET SPY RING KNOWN AS
CHAOS. WE SUSPECT THEY ARE UNDER COVER SOMEWHERE IN THIS
NEIGHBORHOOD.

GOOD LUCK!

I am working on a german adventure conversion now, so stay tuned !

EDIT:

UPDATED Sourcecode: [attachurl=3]

Now with new Loading Screen (see below who made it :) ) - RUN"LOADER

BTW, you see my gfx skill is ... expandable.

So if someone can do some nicer load screens, maybe a "sampler" could be done with all those Adventures and nice screens on one (virtual) disk.

ok ok, to the rescue... sorry no time to do better at the moment...  :picard:

could use some lightings effects, ditherings textures and antialiasings... or another graphic... whatever.

perhaps even some split rasters to use an indecent amount of colours... (check the winner of last Reset party)

also please... never ever use jpg... again... ever... à tout jamais...

Nice :)

My img2cpc tool does not like PNG - or do you mean for forum here ?

A great little adventure! The CPC cannot have too many adventure games, in my view!

One little niggle; there are a few places where you have to use UPPERCASE characters (eg, command after "PUT" and "THROW", play again, etc). The INPUT command doesn't have an UPPER$ command following it. Also, you can "SMASH" or "OPEN" things repeatedly and things keep falling out!

Other than that... keep 'em coming, fella! ^_^

EDIT: I would also change a few colours on the loader... just because that's what I do! ^_^

Now I have to admit - i can't convert PNG to SCR File :) - even the fanciest ones. RGAS.exe keeps crashing ...

Using CAPS LOCK was very common in those old machines where I take the  sources from - but ofc. I'll take a look at your hints/ideas and try to implement'em.

Thanks for looking into it !

Here's a quickly coded version of the overscan loader. I haven't tested the game yet, so I don't know if it crashes. Anyway, type RUN"LOADER" to view loading screen. Press any key to load the game.

gif, bmp and png can be set so the pixels are exactly what they are and you stay with the exact same amout on inks/colours...

jpg is something any pixel art must ban because it would add you zounds and zounds of extra colours and noise.

convimgcpc can read bmp I think.

yeay, I just made a quick manual conversion but it is now a basis for any improvement.

Without doubt... a really decent little adventure.
The James Bond style finale was pretty frustrating... just how I like it! ^_^
