It is with great pleasure I present to you the official Chibi Akumas Episode 2 trailer!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WoYu7u97us

Chibi akumas has gone RTM (or rather RT7Z), it's done, tested, and ready! The game (and it's sourcecode) will be released for free on Halloween from the official website:
http://www.chibiakumas.com/ep2/

Well, there you go! Chibi Akumas Ep2 realizes the CPC game I wanted to make when I started 13 months ago! I never thought I could actually make a game of this standard on the CPC, so I had to cut down my ambition to something vaguely realistic with Ep1... but Ep2 has everything I had hoped I could bring to the game!

I hope everyone will get a kick out of the weird, crazy game I've created! I'm hoping that the combination of the strange dark comedy, crazy bullet-hell action and technical features will bring something new and different to the CPC community!

I hope you enjoy it! the new game is about twice the length of the last... I had to up the default credits to 60

There should be some good replay value too...

1. there are five secret unlockable 'achievements'.. each unlocks a full-screen character poster
2 .there is a second gameplay mode which is unlocked after the first win.
3. there are three different versions of the dialog depending if you play as Chibiko, Bochan or both together... so yeah, you'll need a second player to see all three!

I've had to hold a lot back to avoid spoiling the plot of the game, there's a huge 3rd level boss which I'm keeping secret to avoid spoiling the joke!.. there are over 80 cartoon frames in the cut-scenes and the '256k clip' in the youtube vid is just one part of the 256k enhanced animations from the last boss battle

I got the idea for the looping 256k pre-rendered 3d background from the Neo Geo game 'blazing star', heck if the Neo Geo can do it - we should have it on the CPC!

Very beautiful, but not the first game with 256 KB support, there is one with 4 MB support already ;-)

I knew there were demos with extra ram support, but I wasn't aware of anything playable - what's the 4mb one called?

I HAD thought of asking on here if it was the first, but I knew if I did, some smarta$$ would just release pong with a "512k memory minimum" check on load to beat me to it!

See the Wiki: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Category:4_MB_RAM_Software
It's Return of the Sisters

Although very cool, it's just a tech demo.
Nothing close to a game as is!

So, Keith is absolutely right: His is the first 256kb game :)

Soon Halloween!  :D

Yes it is! The game comes out at midnight on the 30th (or one second into the 31st) JAPAN time - I believe it will actually be released on the 30th at 4pm UK time

Check the timer on the website - it decides when the game comes out not me!!! :  http://www.chibiakumas.com/ep2/

If you're playing on an emulator, don't forget to enable 256k ram (and - of course plus features!)

I'm really looking forward to the release of Chibi II in short time.  :)

Could you give us a link to the finished game please?

Yeah, if there's already a 4mb game it needs better linking - I don't know about it, and I've seen people asking about what they can do with their memory upgrades a couple of times, and I've never heard it mentioned, so it's definitely under-represented!

Sure I can. BTW: Patience is a virtue. Since I'm very busy please don't expect my to be in that forum here all the time. I like the real world more than the virtual forum world. I mean ... watch a car in reality and then you will say: "Oh, that scrolling is way cool".
Oh, I guess you did ask for a link, right? Here it comes: http://futureos.cpc-live.com/files/WIP_of_A_Tribute_to_the_Sisters.zip

Well, there are lots of sources of links, and by far one can't find everything at one place. For example, lot's of people don't know worlds first 4 MB demo either. Actually Piotr is showing a video in his "4 MB RAM expansion" thread.
But really, back to Chibi now, I didn't intend to post the reason for derailing the thread. Back to Chibi and counting the seconds to the release...  :) :) :)

Sure pal, whatever you say...

By the way you surely know that "WIP" means Work In Progress aka anything from an image up to a level or two. But NEVER a finished production.

But I'm sure such a virtuoso person like you would already be aware of the above

So, we are still waiting for a link to the finished product  ;)

robcfg

I'm pretty sure we'll get that link when the game is fully finished.

Just chill out guys!  8)
