I received the Alcon 2020 cartridge for Amstrad CPC today and it looks really great. Congratulations on the excellent packaging! I only have one question and that is about the functioning of the cartridge on the computers of the classic Amstrad line (CPC464 and CPC6128). Where can I buy the compatible adapter? ::)

P.S. - At this point I also ask if there is a way to buy a PlayCity board, is there someone who produces it?

Thank you very much for your kind words. :)

The Play2CPC allows to play Alcon 2020 with full audio and save the scores and settings.
No need the PlayCity for the cartridge games with this expansion. It is already embedded!

Just contact Abalore or send a request from https://www.abalore.com

It's true!!!

I had completely forgotten about this peripheral, on the thread I had even listed myself.

Thanks for the info, I sent a private message to Abalore here on the wiki! ;)

CMcK

Received my copy of Alcon 2020 yesterday. It's a stunning port for the system. Very impressive. If CPC games had been like that in the 80s no other micro would have got a second glance!

The Alcon package is cracking too. I like the box and art and the padding in the box to hold the cart is a very nice touch. The cart feels really sturdy compared to the homebrew carts I have on other systems. I wasn't expecting that to be honest.

All I need now is a Play2CPC cart and a controller with 2 button support. I can only use button one with my Master System controller so have to sit quite close to hit the shift key to select weapon upgrades. Can anyone recommend a good pad or stick that will give me two button support on the 6128+?

Once again well done to the Alcon 2020 team. You all should be very proud of what you have achieved with this.

Gryzor

Oh yes I noticed that too about the cart, it really is well made!

TotO

@CMcK Thank you very much for this kind feedback! Yes, the card older was designed to properly insert and remove the cart, while the instruction manuals has its own room over. :)

About your SMS controller, you can build a DB9/DB9 adapter to cross two lines to use the fire buttons. Else, a GX4000 controller.

I can only recommand to use this joystick to play Alcon 2020:
https://www.micomputer.es/es/inicio/460-joystick-arcader.html

I have bought two of them to have the free shipping from Spain. But sadly, it looks to be now out of stock.

Hmmm this stick reminds me of something...  ::)

I could never really handle such long sticks very well (please spare the jokes), but I guess each to their own!

TotO

I is very better than the original, because a real arcade stick and buttons inside. It is customisable, so you can configure it to have the two buttons on one side if you prefer by turing if from 90°.

That's nice then. Never gonna switch from my trusted old Pacman sticks, but how much did it cost?

For me this is the best!

eto

For Alcon, the only thing that works for me is an arcade stick. With any gamepad / joystick I don't even survive a minute.

I found this NES arcade controller, which of course is not compatible, but since it's just microswitches inside, I simply used a SEGA joystick extension cable, cut off the male connector and soldered the cables to the respective microswitches. 30 minutes effort and just great for 20-25€.  (Arcade stick is 15€ on Amazon, an extension cable around 5€ from China)

TotO

35% of the games was received before the weekend.
I hope you have fun with it! :)

There is an artistic picture of the cartridge PCB view on the first page. And sorry, I have not took a picture of the Play2CPC PCB. May be something to do for a wallpaper. :D
