:D Killer Gorilla 2 there is for BBC MICRO computer, is a good conversion, could be beautifull for me, a conversion for AMSTRAD CPC, thr game has the title ZANY KONG JR.
Look this video of BBC MICRO, good games wich could be on AMSTRAD.  ;)

BBC Micro Arcade Conversions

Alls the isometric games KNIGHT LORE, HEAD OVER HEELS, BATMAN, HYROFOOL, ecc.. are best only for AMSTRAD for me.  :D
Do not underestimate the power of AMSTRAD CPC.

mr_lou

A lot of those games are already made for the CPC.

Puresox

Those BBC games are real impressive versions and are better than most Amstrad versions unfortunately

I can't see that from the video. Some games have different versions on CPC too ;-)

Here is a list of what I think are impressive on the BBC. and the Amstrad does not or has not got credible versions.

Mr do        Scramble                    Zaxxon
Asteroids   Qix                           Moon Cresta
Robotron   Galaxians                  Breakout
Pengo       Galaga                      Monsters
Joust        Missile Command        Sinistar
SPACE INVADERS
Why could these games not be produced to a decent standard ?

Fruity Frank is an outstanding game that is heavily inspired by Mr Do, although it isn't a direct clone.
The CPC version of Moon Cresta is superb.
There is a great version of Space Invaders, by none other than Richard Wilson, the developer of WinAPE.
Arkanoid 1 and 2 are both excellent on the CPC, if you're after a Breakout fix.

Puresox

Fruity frank is great yes ,
Moon Cresta is not bad , but collision detection is poor , and the wave patterns are predictable and become routine
Space Invaders - Will have to seek that out , I don't think I have played that version.
Arkanoid 1+2 are Superb no doubt, but considering Breakout is one of the first games developed and surely not that difficult to replicate (Or is it  on the Amstrad?) It is a great game in its own right.

Just tried that version of Space Invaders and have to say that it is probably the best example of it on the Amstrad . The dynamics are pretty much there and considering it is only 2K its great!
I am pleased that the base ship is good proportion and moves in the style of the arcade, The 4 shield bases get destroyed in a pleasing manner similar to arcade also, It is nice to have a continuing level of harder difficulty after each wave completed ! (I got to Stage 2, level 6 on first go.And scored 12310 points). The movement of the alien space craft is pretty close to arcade and the missiles too.
Negative points are the Alien sprites too large in proportion and only one type of Alien , and no mother ship.
That said it knocks the shit out of all the commercially released versions.

I totally agree with you on all points.

As for Moon Cresta, doesn't the arcade version also have predictable wave patterns?
(I'm no expert on the subject, so feel free to correct me  :) ).

All of the games you mentioned a few posts ago could easily be done on the CPC (with a few concessions being made for things like screen resolution, on-screen colours etc).
I guess it was just budgets / time constraints / the market / etc. that prevented the games from being developed.
A real shame.

Well, some of them have a good CPC version, look at the CPC Games CD. Zaxxon for example has a horrible scrolling on BBC.

But yes, some of them you will rather find on CBS (good version) than on a CPC. Probably due to their early release (mr. do f.e.).

What's the Mother Ship? Are you playing the full version of the game (Electro Invaders) as I think it's more than 2K (about 4K).

I was playing the first version(I think)At the time of writing that , I have since found the more developed version which has the Mother ship, running along the top and other developments.

Actually, the first version was the most developed one. I cut it down for the 2K minigame competition one year.

I always thought Classic Invaders from Bubble Bus Software was the best Space Invaders clone on the CPC, the programmer needs an award for that game.

It's not to bad that version nice sprites, speed and mothership, don't like the laser base design too bulky in proportion. The Base protectors disintigration is not very subtle, But plays well and gets harder suitably.

Me and my cousin used to play that game on a big TV, was awesome... I only ever made it to stage Seven, my cousin got to stage nine.

Classic Invaders and Classic Axiens were both, erm, classic. I loved them to bits. Classic Invaders also had a really lovely tune...

ukmarkh

I urge everyone to play classic invaders, classic axiens and classic muncher... all good games that present a brilliant challenge... I only bang on about them so much because people need to play them.

In classic Muncher , it gives you a Code along with your high score, for what purpose is this ?

Its not to bad a game Classic Muncher really nice and smooth etc.. but the gameplay goes from exceptionally easy on the first round of Boards. To really tough on the next loop  ,almost unplayable when the ghosts move about in a Blurr. A bit of a shame.

khisanth

All very nice looking and colourful, but all are very tough. Muncher's controls are a bit stiff so you cant turn very quickly. Axiens has the aliens too close to the ground. Invaders has their bombs falling too fast so almost impossible to dodge out of the way.

When the game was originally released, you could enter a competition to win loads of money, the code was proof of your score. You then sent it off in a pre-paid stamped addressed envelope, and waited until Bubble Bus responded. My brother spent weeks trying to hack the game, in order to get the highest code and win all the goodies. lol

 :D
That's what it was for , thanks.

One thing I really hated about Classic Axiens was the way your bullets moved left and right with the ship. Very confusing.

Puresox

Guzzler was a good little game for a quick fix.
Which leads me to this question...The Arcade game 'Guzzler'(Different to CPC's Guzzler) was this converted to the Amstrad under another name ? I am under the impression that it was , but may be getting it confused with another system?
Anyone Know if it was...?

Well, for me, who wasn't used to other shooters, it was actually quite nice, and you could use it with some degree of dexterity.
