Hi,it's know all the diferences between the two type of cartridges?.I buy four games from tradeinpost. And I recieve a klax and no exit no label version.
Aparently the cartridges are equal. But it's not true,I compared my version, with the cpr image en www(1.7 version of klax). And I discover my cartridge execute a different demo mode.In normal version, the first demo screen,is with tree background. And in my cartridge. Is the futuristic backgrond, the order of the rest are also different.
I not sure, buy I think in no exit,is the same case.
Anyone know which are these cartridges.?.
I mean this:
Klax by Atari from Retrogames - Vintage Video Games and Retro Gaming (http://www.retrogames.co.uk/more/on/details/019030)
I know that the No Exit data available on the Wiki and several other places around the web is somehow faulty. If you put it on a cartridge it starts about 5% of the time, the other 95% it just crashes the CPC, so any new image of No Exit would be very welcome.

I don't know if it's a bad transfer. It definitely doesn't like rom boards, and the original cart i have suffers exactly this problem on a real plus.
I am interested there are different versions of the same cart. Perhaps dragon you have a fixed version?
If you can get it dumped, that would be great.
I'm not sure,I only test it in the gx4000.And its works sometimes. But I not tested in the plus.
But its rare a game cartridge that not works in system was designed :D .But probably is a direferent versión.In pang there are two version, the normal, and without label lost the intro.
In winape, the first time the game works but the second time not wtf!.I need reinstall winape and work only one time wtf.
One posible teory. The first thing the game do,is unlock asic, and configured asic rom mapping(I think).Maybe the game not boot, because sometimes,it initialize the asic to fast.More fast that the asic validates the acid. And This cause the game not boot As if you not have cartridge=no acid chip.
QuoteNo Exit
wasn't this game bugged ?
Like it couldn't work on a 6128PLUS or when something was connected to the wrong port or whatever.
perhaps they made a second version/serie in order to fix the bugs.
I thought the main problem with no exit is that the darn thing plays itself, nothing you do with the controller will correspond with the onscreen antics, which begs the question is this due to a demo only version mistakenly making it to market in place of the playable version? I'm fairly sure that the copy I have, which is housed inside a switchblade cartridge for some strange reason, works fine on my 464 plus obviously with the non playability bug still. I can always dump the EPROM if a good copy isn't preserved anywhere but the game is so bad do we really want to preserve it? ;)

If we no preserve the history of cpc computer, later it probably lost in time.If the game is bad is the least.:).
Where you buy this cartridge, can you make a picture of it?.
I can take a photo if anyone wants to see, I bought it from the tradeinpost last year but I had wanted switchblade, the cart that showed up was a properly labeled Switchblade one and hadn't been opened at any point so it's a mystery as to why it's No Exit when it's booted up. I ordered another with the intention of housing the PCB in the properly labeled cartridge but I never have gotten round to it.

yes preserve it please.
we should preserve all carts and all variants.
Another thought, perhaps this cartridge is for the CSD?

OH,buy gx4000 games in tradeinpost,is a box surprise!.You don't know what recieve.! jaja. :) .My switchblade is o.k.(i pick up switch blade, protenis tour, klax and no Exit.)
Hi guys
The carts that the TradeInPost are nearly all carts that were taken from the 'demo' machines that were sent to places like Virgin Megastore, Dixons, etc around the time of release of the GX4000 console. Some of them are 'unfinished' - the best example being PANG which if memory serves me correct is missing the title screen animation and a couple of other things.
Dragon - you may find some more general information on my site - GX4000.CO.UK - The site for the Amstrad GX4000 console! Welcome... (http://gx4000.co.uk)
This is ok, so it means that eventually we could have all csd and all official carts dumped (excluding chase hq 2 ;) )

OH,maybe the guy who know the pang programer can ask him about the white label cartridge version :).
Your site is great, buy it lack information about beta cartridges, maybe you can add a section to present the diferencies. And it can be useful,if in the rarity guide you can add a price recommended for only cartridges.Without box and manual.
My no-label Pang cartridge from Tradeinpost has no intro sequence, the aeroplane sprite is messed up and there are no background pictures from Australia onwards.
I bought a Plotting cartridge from them back in the day that made the screen go crazy, they replaced it with a tested copy and it did the same. They finally refunded the money and sent a note saying they had found the batch didn't work on colour monitors.
My No Exit catridge, also from Tradeinpost has always worked 100% fine on my 6128+. It does the plays itself thing though.
Had no other problems with any other cartridges.

Plotting sets the line length 1 char too much. (CRTC register R0 to 64 and not 63).
Perhaps this caused your problem here?
I hope dumps of these other carts can be made so we can have a complete list, and also to compare differences in the data.

I don't mind posting my cartridges for someone to poke around with as long as I get them back :)
Oh that would be superb... any takers?
