All these animations are awesome, I wonder how many frames they are each using. E.g. when the skeleton is dying (disappearing as a cloud with a skull face inside) etc.

In-game music is also nice. Something I'm obsessed with and a must for Castlevania genre too.
Praise the developers for this, because we almost never have in-game music in CPC.

I think this game is great from a technical perspective, and some of the graphics are nice (the castle, some skeletons...). The idea of doing a metroidvania is also nice (quite refreshing after 50+ Rick Dangerous clones).

However, I find some of the characters quite ugly (main character looks too "Western cheap manga", some enemies are disgusting, one monster appears to have a "Clever & Smart head for some reason...).

The color choice is somewhat decent, if perhaps a bit too "melancholic". We've seen much worse color choices for mode 1.

But let's be honest: not everyone can create a total masterpiece by both programming and drawing a game. Clive Townsend and others managed to do so (incredibly), but even Ritman needed Drummond. I can't draw and I can't program moving objects, so kudoz for the developer.

It gives a bit of Bollaware vibes, though, with that mode 1 and those peculiar drawings.  ??? Luckily, the world is not red here like in Bollaware games.

I accidentally quoted myself, so I will use this message to write something else. Let's see, hmmm....

Okay, so the animations are cool, the game seems fast an responsive... it seems fun.

Having a dislike of Mode 0 and its garish colors, I liked both this choice of mode 1 and the melancholic color palette.
I'd like to see more of this style in future.

For years we've ben exposed to flamboyant, unplayable, low resolution mode 1 games (with no music) as a pseudo-remedy to terrible speccy ports (which stand on the other end of the spectrum*). I feel both extremes were terrible.

*yeah, spectrum :P

For me, the coolest thing about these games is that they show that the Amstrad CPC could do fast action... I mean, if you play some speccy port, you could get the impression that the CPC was slow as hell.
