Yes, in the two versions, I'm afraid  :picard: WinApe is interesting because it's the only tool to develop on CPC, but it's a terrible emulator. Make your tests using CPCEC, it's a very good one.

Well done, it's very nice 8)

nice! I'd love to see some more 128K games as my Gx4000 is upgraded. R-Type or RickDangerous 128k would be awesome.

Nice one. Of course it won't be added to the list as @remax clearly determined that a GX4000 game has to be fully functional on a stock console but it's interesting for the few people that soldered 64K more RAM.

The problem is more to spend time on conversions just for a few people will be able to enjoy while there are still quite a few games running with 64K to patch or upgrade. And in the same time what would be better would be to try to adapt 128k only games using cartridge capabilities to make them work on any GX4000, reading datas on the fly.

And here it is a great project around one of my favorite game of all times, a game that clearly made me the player I am (yes, nothing less, and my avatar betrays me :P ) It's an upgrade of a game that had been quickly converted with no patch at the beginning of the project but that deserved some more care. Once again, so many thanks master @Urusergi  :

RICK DANGEROUS from Firebird

This version corrects some historical bugs. Now the game displays the 192 lines in height rather 184 in the original release. Also fixed is a bug that sometimes froze the game pressing the pause key while Rick was moving.

You will enjoy a title screen now, composed from the one created by CNG Soft but without the Core Design and Firebird logos, replaced by simple mentions, more readable. Also the green text has been patched to white. Who the hell thought that a green text was a good idea?

The Brueggi version has been patched too. Offering interesting Plus colours, bugs have been fixed, white text patch is here, and a title screen created by iXien was added.

For everyone's pleasure, various releases are available:
    - Rick Dangerous: For the purists, with original colours, no titlescreen, original green text, just the bugs fixed.
    - Rick Dangerous (Screen): Original colour but title screen, white text, bugs fixed
    - Rick Dangerous Plus: Plus colours, title screen, white text, bugs fixed

Controls:
J1UP/J1B2 = Climb up or jump
J1DOWN = Go down or crawl
J1B1+J1UP = Shot
J1B1+J1DOWN = Drop dynamite
J1B1+J1LEFT/RIGHT = Use the stick
Pause button = Pause game (J1B1 = resume game, J1B2 = Quit game)

Modifications for the GX4000 version :
    - New title screens from CNG Soft and iXien (and yes, if you ask me as I'm not graphist, I'm a little bit proud of this Plus title screen 8) )
    - Wait for fire to skip title screen
    - Remaped pause and quit keys.
    - Right height patch for real 288x192 (using Abraxas trick from 1990)
    - No more random freezes pressing pause button while rick is moving.
    - Unlimited lives and ammos

Have a very very nice weekend with Rick !

The screen size bug was discovered and corrected by @SyX  two years ago 😅

On CPC Power, the fixed cracked version available indicates : 1 REM ABRAXAS - MADRID (21/09/1990)
With no more information I thought it was actually an old trick found in 1990 by Abraxas. Wooops, my mistake! Indeed, on the original version page on the same sheet, SyX is correctly credited.
I'll change the TXT file in the RAR archive that will be used to upgrade the GX4000 conversion page. Many thanks for this information, mate ;) .

One does not go without the other, so thanks to the magician's fingers of @Urusergi , here is a fabulous new GX4000 patch for :

RICK DANGEROUS II from Micro Style

Controls:
J1UP/J1B2 = Climb up or jump
J1DOWN = Go down or crawl
J1B1+J1UP = Shot
J1B1+J1DOWN = Drop dynamite
J1B1+J1DOWN+J1LEFT/RIGHT = Through dynamite
J1B1+J1LEFT/RIGHT = Punch
Pause button = Pause game (J1B1 = resume game, J1B2 = Quit game)

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - Fixed title screen (Yes, did you ever notice that the bottom of the picture was missing? So I quickly reconstructed it, based on the ST/Amiga original title screen ;) ).
    - Wait for fire to skip title screen,
    - Remaped pause and quit keys,
    - No more random freezes pressing pause button while rick is moving,
    - Unlimited lives and ammos, unlocked access to level 5.

He's back in a flash !

Whoops, no new game or update for our beloved GX4000 this last week-end  :picard: ? No matter, here is a little something to spend the week :

TOM & JERRY from Magic Bytes

TOM & JERRY 2 from Magic Bytes

I converted and uploaded the two games at the same time as they are very similar. Indeed, the second opus consists just in new maps on the very same average game. Personally, I played it a lot despite everything after having acquired it in a French compilation called Cartoons. And maybe someone else will like to rediscover this little game from our childhood  ;)

Ok guys, here is a new great update from @Urusergi, this time an important game on the videogame history, hoping you'll enjoy the tricks used to make it playable on one joypad (rather than the original patched version that required the second joypad) :

TEENAGE MUTANT HERO TURTLES from Image Works

Controls:
J1B1 = Fire
J1B2 = Pause
Pause button = In/out party wagon

While game is in pause:
J1B1 = Resume game
J1B2 = Change weapon
J1UP = Change turtle

Pausing the game to choose feature was the only possible solution on a 2-button joystick while gameplay is using 4 buttons on the original NES version (including Start and Select buttons). Also, it was impossible to remap the in/out party wagon feature on d-pad, that's why it has been remapped on the pause button.

Modifications for this version (great work from @Urusergi, so many to make another game so naturally playable on GX4000)
    - Removed the password system
    - Modify text on main screen
    - Remaped keys to play on 2-button joypad
    - Exit pause only with Fire 1 (or entering ingame menu)
    - Unlimited lives and ammos, long jump hack

Have a nice day

At launch the game asks for the control method and I don't manage to choose joystick using the joypad on GX4000. Did I miss something?

It's a nice week my friends 8) , yes it's a nice week with a new homebrew game to share on GX4000 :

LIGHT GRID from Lublu Entertainement

Well done @mr_lou , it's a very tiny and nice 2 player game. I really love that music :-* . And I love the idea that the game natively playable using both joypad on GX4000 too 8) an example to follow.

It's the end of the week and we continue our patch update session with master @Urusergi with:

XEVIOUS from U.S.Gold

The need of the second joypad just to start the game was really a shame. Now it's solved with this brand new patch, including some new features.

Controls:
Main menu:
J1B1 = Start 1 player game
J1B2 = Start 2 player game
Ingame:
J1B1 = Fire
J1B2 = Pause/unpause

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - Wait for fire to skip title screen
    - Remaped keys to play using joypad 1 only
    - Main menu modified to keep only 1/2 player choice on screen
    - Pause mode bug fixed
    - Pokes: Unlimited lives, invulnerability

Have a nice week-end everyone  8)

And here is a new patch from @Urusergi to upgrade the already available experience on GX4000  ;)  :

FLYING SHARK from Firebird

A very nice conversion that once again deserved more attention. The biggest improvements is that the 2 player mode is now available and you can quit the game will it's in pause.

Menu controls:
J1LEFT = 1 player game
J1RIGHT = 2 player game
J1B2 = Start game

Ingame controls:
J1B1/J2B1 = Fire
Pause button = Pause game (Pause button again to quit game, any other button to resume game)

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - Wait for fire to skip title screen
    - Black border on title screen
    - All keys remapped, including controls on joypad 2
    - Pokes : unlimited lives, invulnerability

Have a nice week-end  8)

Ok guys, a very little news to start the week-end with :

THE APPRENTICE from Mastertronic

Controls (J1B1 to start game on main screen):
J1UP = Go up
J1LEFT/RIGHT = Move left or right
J1DOWN = Collect an item
J1B1 = Fire

The title screen is clearly inspired from the ones from 'Ultimate Play The Game' and the game itself is a clone of Sorcery. But it remains nice to play.
