Quote from: VincentGR on 21:23, 02 November 22Sure, if you consider that we have Relentless and Scramble.
But back then I loved this in the arcades and that's what I had at home.
A new version would be great indeed.
Childhood memories can't be discussed, it's all about love  :D

Fingers crossed hopping it will be on cartridge/64k and not just a recolored version of the original game that will only work on a 6128+ 8) .

Unlikely. To make a RAM game run from ROM (and not only load it from ROM to RAM) you probably need to patch a lot of code. Without source that would be super hard for such a huge game.

Btw: Normally I like the Plus colour adaptions. But Steel Wheel looks like it's running on a C64.

I was afraid that was a version done by BG... OK, it is just a hack. ;D

Yes, I answered too fast. It's after my post that I understood that it was a hack, not an official work in progress from BG.

This weekend took place in France the Micro-Alchimie, a meeting mainly dedicated to the Amiga, organized by the triple A association. But as they are not sectarian, there were also many more or less exotic machines :P . Of course, there were several Amstrad CPCs and I was able to collect some exclusive information, see marvels that await us in the more or less near future.

With the agreement of @OneVision (graphics), here is a very first image of an adaptation of RODLAND that they are cooking for us with @CheshireCat (programming)  8)

This project is only at the beginning but we can already take the joypad in hands to move RIT in a level filled with flowers and many graphics are already done. This is not a remaster of the official conversion but a new game designed from scratch whose ambition is to offer the most faithful experience to the original arcade version.

It's superb, it already moves very well, it will take advantage of the specificities of the 'Plus' systems, and it will work on GX4000  ;D

And here come a new adventure on GX4000 thanks to the efforts of @Urusergi :

DOPPLEGANGER from Alligata

Controls:
d-pad = Move
J1B1 = Drop key / Start game
J1B2 = Drop object
Pause button = Switch character

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - New Alligata Software and title screens (fire to skip)
    - Status screen patched (screen cleared before display)
    - Alligata Software label centered on status screen
    - Ingame keys patched
    - Infinite energy poke

A really underrated game IMO, Doopleganger offers a clever adventure, particularly for a game launched in 1985 and created by only one people. It is also exclusive to CPC, making good use of mode 0 and offering surprising gameplay and level design for its time.

Thanks to @Urusergi , the game offers numerous improvements like a new logo screen and lightened title screen but most of all what we think is a bugfix compared to the original game with the status informations that doesn't display above the last ingame screen shown anymore. Enjoy  8)

I forgot to mention that the archive includes DSK files, as we can consider that the improvements constitue an update of the game even on CPC ;)

btw: is it possible to convert the CPRs back to DSK? Any Plus owner who is not lucky to have a C4CPC but has a Gotek or similar could benefit from those DSK versions.

No, it isn't possible to go back when a DSK has been converted to CPR/BIN (or with difficulty). Sadly, since this thread was opened, people that patched the games usually just submitted the final result in CPR has the main goal is to offer new games for the GX4000. But you're right, a game patched to be fully playable on a 2 button joypad and sometimes even offering updates would be interesting for standard CPC owners. But in the future we can always include DSK versions of the games we patch with Urusergi, no problem ;)

Hi folks, we continue to spread new old games on GX4000, this time @Urusergi patched a nice Spanish game :

COSA NOSTRA from Opera Soft

Controls:
d-pad = Move
J1B1 = Fire
J1B2 = Pause/unpause game
Pause button = Quit current game

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - French and Spanish versions patched,
    - Invitation to redefine key on main screen removed,
    - J1B1 to skip title screen and start game,
    - J1B2 = Pause/unpause,
    - Pause button = Quit current game,
    - Infinite lives poke.

A great work that needed some effort, especially on the French version cracked that had been compressed, modified and twisted dramatically at the time. But nothing can stop @Urusergi and now the two languages version are available.

Following @eto 's suggestion, you will now always find the patched DSK files in the packages for standard CPC users on floppy disks ;) .

Have a nice evening everyone  8)

It's not about a CPC game converted to GX4000 but I think it's interesting to spread the news here :

MISSILE COMMAND from @CyrilAmstrad (Program), @TITAN (Eric Cubizolle) (GFX) and Royal Software LW (Music)

It is now available for every GX4000.

Discover this new game only available on cartridge here :

Latest news on the thread for tonight (I suppose) :

@rewk has updated his Roland Ahoy! patch, adding a very nice splashscreen from @TITAN (Eric Cubizolle) .

He already updated the 'Converted GX4000 Software' list, so you can directly download it here to see the result:

Indeed! I forgot to post here to advertise for it. Thanks!

Anyways, Roland Ahoy is not exactly a great game, but I still remember fondly how i played it on its release when I was 7 or 8. ;)

Ok guys, after some new games, here is the return of good old games patched by @Urusergi for our GX4000  :D :

GABRIELLE from UBI Soft

Controls:
d-pad = Move Gabrielle
J1B1 = Use your sword
J1B2 = Use items
Pause button = Pause/unpause game

Modifications for the GX4000 version:
    - J1B1 to skip title screen rather than spacebar,
    - 'CLAVIER O/N' choice completely removed when game is started,
    - J1B2 to use items,
    - Skip highscore table pressing J1B1 and direct input 'JOUEUR 1',
    - Unlimited lives, unlimited energy.

Objectively, GABRIELLE is not an unforgettable game for the one who never played it before. Lot of flaws, music is a plagiarism just like the title screen, a gameplay that is... weird. Despite this, lot of things are so much lovable in this game, something in the general spirit. And no, it's not only beacause of the  title screen that made fantasize so much young French players  8)  Make your own opinion in this version now fully playable on joypad  ;)

And here is a new conversion from our magician lord, @Urusergi . This time with a multiplayer game perfect on our GX4000 with its two joypads :

BATTY from Elite Systems

Controls :
Main menu :
Joypad 1 UP = Select 1 player game
Joypad 1 DOWN = Select 2 players game
Pause button = Start game
Ingame :
Joypad 1 left/right = Move the paddle left/right for player 1
J1B1 = Launch ball / fire for player 1
Joypad 2 left/right = Move the paddle left/right for player 2
J2B1 = Launch ball / fire for player 2

Modifications for the GX4000 version :
    - Wait for fire to skip title screen
    - Joypad controls by default
    - Remove the options to select controls on main screen
    - Unlimited lives

The original C64 version is clearly the best with its music, a fast animation, more levels and more options. But this CPC version remains lovable imo with its bright colours, animation that accelerates with bonuses, the 2 player option and this trick of the magnetic point that deviate the ball. Not the best ball breaker on CPC, but nevertheless a true classic on 8 bit  8) computers. Of course a poked version is available for all people afraid by the wall of grey bricks in level 2  :P

Another week-end, another patch from @Urusergi . This time :

TITUS CLASSIQUES VOLUMES 1 & 2 from Titus, joined in one cartridge

Controls in start menu :
J1B1 = Select 'Volume 1'
J1B2 = Select 'Volume 2'

Minigames menu :
J1 UP/DOWN = Select a minigame
J1B1 = Start the selected minigame

Ingame Volume 1 :
    - Breakout : d-pad left/right = move left or right, J1B1 = launch the ball
    - Invaders : d-pad left/right = move left or right, J1B1 = Fire
    - Glutton : d-pad = move Glutton in all directions

Ingame Volume 2 :
    - Grand Prix : d-pad left/right = turn left/right, J1B1 = Accelerate, J1B2 = Slow down
    - Penggo : d-pad = move Penggo, J1B1 = Break an ice block or push it
    - Arnold : d-pad = move Arnold

In all minigames, press the Pause button at any time to return to the selection menu. Reset your system to return to the volume selection menu.

Modifications for the GX4000 version :
    - Only one title screen at start
    - Upgraded title screen (overscan, no more volume number and truncated Titus logo fixed)
    - Wait for fire to skip title screen
    - Select volume with J1B1/J1B2
    - Joypad buttons rather than up/down to accelerate/brake in Grand Prix
    - Pause button to go back to minigames menu

Based on the CNG Soft version bringing together 'Titus Classiques Volume 1' and 'Titus Classiques Volume 2' for a smart compilation of 6 classic games from the beginning of the videogame history.

Although primitives, even at the time, these 6 transpositions show how the simplest and most effective games can also turn out to be the most timeless. Moreover, Titus did things very well. Fluid and fast animation, impeccable gameplay and playability, colorful graphics and vertical overscan display, we don't expect such a clean realization for such small games.

@Urusergi accepted to remove the original titlescreen of each volume to insert the one I gave him in overscan to display it at first. Thank you for this my friend  :-*

Have a nice week-end.
