Did Different Countries Like Different CPC Games?

The CPC is British, and a majority of games for it are too. However, only a minority of those were designed from the ground up as CPC games. Most did at least have more colourful graphics and better sound than on the Spectrum, but some didn't, and a lot were implemented quite lazily. British players seemed to mainly buy British games, and they made up most of the favourites.  For example, when the readers of the UK's Retro Gamer voted for the top Amstrad games, I think 23 out of 25 were British (Get Dexter and Prince of Persia the only exceptions), with Ocean / Imagine faring especially well. Amstrad Action's buyers guides and the like seem dominated by British games too.

France, by contrast, was dominated by the CPC to the extent that their titles. The blatant Spectrum ports presumably got short shrift outside the UK, but even top UK titles have theoretical disadvantages against French releases. Did games designed for tapes with block loading, especially budget games which were often simpler or shorter than French full pricers, really succeed in France? Also, there will be games which were adored in France but never released in the UK, especially if translating them was a big job. This all probably applies to Spain to an extent too.

Would a poll result be similar to the Retro Gamer one if French (or Spanish or German) players voted on it? Does anyone have any 'best games' lists from those countries' magazines, or conducted on forums in those languages, to see how different they are?
