The first tune on this Amstrad music compilation is recorded by the uploader as 'Dogs of War #1'. I've searched elsewhere and only see a Dogs of War released for the Amiga & ST in either 89/90. Did this have an Amstrad release or is the uploader mistaken on the first tune source?

Nope, definitely not. It didn't see any 8bit release if memory serves me correctly.
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

It is from DOGS OF WAR. It's from the AtariST version (both CPC and ST use the AY chip for sound).

yes, its from dogs of war - great game, I played it a lot long time ago :). The Amiga version, while being a conversion from ST has much better (a bit c64ish) music - check it out here:

Basically they re-used things from Ikari Warrior...

Hmmm.... where have I heard that lead sample from? Another David Whittaker classic, perhaps? Hmmm... ^_^

Elite doing dodgy follow-ups to licensed games? Nah, they'd never do that.

Yeah I like it but everyone commented when I reviewed it that they hated it. Hey ho.

seriously, it was a very nice game, yeah, not quite bombjack related but still interesting and speedy game... really a great CPC game indeed.

Puresox

I thought it was a decent playable game also, plenty people have a problem cos it is not Bombjack related it seems. doesn't bother me .

Shaun M. Neary

We've found the problem though.

Had it not been labeled with the Bombjack name, it probably wouldn't have bombed as hard. There's a few games that have fallen under this fate over the years.
Renegade III also springs to mind, should never have been part of a potential franchise.

And then gauntlet III did things the other way round. A shockingly bad game that tried to sell on the good name of the previous 3 games (gauntlet, deeper dungeons and gauntlet 2). When I saw the titlescreen I remember thinking good, all 4 characters, I'm going to enjoy this. The the game started....arrrrrggggghhhhhh!

Gauntlet III was and awful pile of crap, but it got a lot of praise from magazines back then; at least I remember a lenghthy special in "Micromania" magazine and I remember thinking... wow, this game is amazing.

Until I played the game. Bah.
Released The Return of Traxtor, Golden Tail, Magica, The Dawn of Kernel, Kitsune`s Curse, Brick Rick, Hyperdrive and The Heart of Salamanderland for the CPC.

If you like my games and want to show some appreciation, you can always buy me a coffee.

While I'm not disagreeing with this statement, but is it really fair to class The Deeper Dungeons as an actual game? As it was more of an expansion pack sold with a re-issued Gauntlet less than a year or so after the original release in an attempt to shift more units.
