I assume it's a troll too. Capcom owned the rights to the Ducktales Game and they only developed it for NES and Gameboy as far as I know. I've never heard mention of a CPC version. In fact I don't think Capcom have ever written anything for the CPC. Being a Japanese company it's unlikely that they would have given the CPC platform any kind of priority.

A CPC and GX4000 version of Duck Tales was advertised in 1991, but I'm certain that it was never released.

They didn't write anything directly, but US Gold released a number of CPC conversions of Capcom games. However, it was actually Titus who were planning to release Duck Tales for the CPC.

Other sources state that Titus was to release this one.

But i really don't know how they managed : titus only released shitty games or lazy almost disk-to-cartridge ports.

Dick tracy was quite well realised especially for GX4000...et was shitty nonetheless.

They just couldn't figure how to use the ASIC.



And when they did, it was too late : Prehistorik 2 was nice (a bit sluggish...though)


They should have done the Blues Brother indeed of bad cars games...

it was a great game on 16bit.

Back to ducktale : this is a disney franchise you know ?
Not a Capcom.

So it would have make sence anyone could get the license depending the countries or machine..

A bit?  I think it's to the point it's almost unplayable... it looks nice but it's crap to play  :(

I've always thought that about PH2, all graphics, with sluggish play and poor level design. Super Cauldron was better, but only just. As for Ducktails, never happened on the CPC or Plus, was advertised loads though.

Hadn't played it before, but just tried it and it is better.

Is there a Plus version or was it only released for the classic CPC?

Stock CPC, but it is compatible with the Plus.

I recall playing Ducktales one the Amiga (at least i think it was called Ducktales). Anyways even if it did feature 2 discs, the first disc was pretty much just the intro. It was quite oldstyle gameplay with no fansy 3D stuff at all so it would be quite easy to make a amstrad version. A still screen menu in Uncle Scrooch's moneybin, then a world a bit like north&south (but less detailed). Moving around was done by a basic short planeride, like Biggles but to duck clowds and balloons. The main game was a short climbing game like Batman the movie. A lot of the game was audio i recall (sampled speech). If you forget about the audio, then all that should fit nicely on a single side of a 3" i think.

This document prouve only one thing :

When starting developpment, it is easy to tell it will be released on all format. It just costs a few words in a list.

Yet when comes the real production/dev. phase, things are not that easily.

Crossdev issues, or simply the fact that the format/console/machine is not marketable enough considered the development involved for such a port.

We know the GX4000 carts were limited to 128Ko.

4x128 = 512...
But theorically the GX could get 512Ko (And will perhaps one day ;)), yet we know Amstrad denied this so he must talks about 128ko limitation on GX carts.
