Guys,
Can you help me finally lay something to rest!

I have been looking for a double cassette case version of Rastan by Imagine for ages - it never seems to surface on eBay, or anywhere else - no pictures on Google, either.
Now, I have seen a disc version in original release Imagine packaging, and there is the budget Hit Squad release I already own...

Can anyone tell me if the Amstrad got a double cassette case version along with the Spectrum and Commodore 64?

Thanks,
Paul

Just out of curiosity, what was on the second tape?

The soundtrack to the outrun arcade machine?

There was nothing on the other tape, as with the majority of games until the small cardboard boxes came in, there was often only ever one cassette, despite there being room for two!

Does nobody know if Rastan ever came out as a full price release on CPC cassette, then?

CraigsBar

I had a full price one. Although I am sure it was in a cardboard box. It came from one of those mail order clubs that sent you a game each month at discounted price.

Double version - it's a compilations Taito Coin-Op Hits (1988, Imagine software) for CPC, ZX and C64.

For ZX - 2 Cassettes version, for CPC - 2 Cassettes and 2 Disks version and for C64 - 2 Cassettes version and 5" Disks version. For CPC this cassettes compilations without Rastan.

by the way this game has a buggy loader either on disc and tape. You can't load the Boss levels.

CNGSOFT helped me when i dumped the game on tape, in fact to make the game acting normally, you must shot down the loader block loading error routine, and force the loader to load the block whatever happens.

On the disc version it's more complicated to patch this error, and it has not been done yet.

I suspect this is an error in the mastering, the game was delivered with all levels and end bosses fully working. The original Imagine/Ocean version worked fine cos I can remember testing it, but I think they may have messed up the budget re-releases.

About game delivering and source code... you guys retain the original source code of the games?

Is possible to recover this source code to the community?

Nowadays a lot of people are learning asm, or, the people who know asm already, likes to put his hands on source codes and make "special" editions  ;D (like the new r-type 128k edition)

it was common to keep the source yes, but I'm sorry I've long since let things like that go.

yeah, so many source codes were lost in time, as many coders told us.

What was it this time ? leaking roof, fire or angry ex-girlfriend ?

(saw the answer in the other post, was kidding anyway)
