andycadley suggested this technique for scrolling, which seems would work as the sprites are rather small and there isn't anything complicated with the backgrounds. When the goal posts appears, it could share the technique used in commando as it doesn't need to scroll into the screen very far.

Hello there. I hadn't realized that the last post was in 2023!

Yes, it looks like some of the sprites sheets (3 or 4) are too old and are missing, but most are still there.
In regards to this project - well, it has been over 13 years now since this thread has started and I don't think that it will ever get made. I recycled the running and skipping sprite animation for the Netball game which is less complex in its rules and execution.

I would love to see this game made, but I wouldn't hold your breath, as sports games are probably the most complex of all game genres to program.
