Hi all - good to see some enthusiasts still about!

This is my first post - I'm trying to find a game I played as a 8-10 year old (about 25 years ago) - I'm convinced it was on an Amstrad CPC as I've managed to find a similar game I played around the same time called
Punchy.

All i remember about this particular game was that it was on the same machine (i think), around the same time (i think) - haha - useful i know! - If i had to describe it...it was a time based game where if you ran out of time or did something wrong, something that was at the top of the screen changed and came down to you, making a weird 8-bit noise and killed you.

The noise? something like wacacacacacacacca...?

This is seriously driving me bonkers - I've asked my older cousins who vaguely remember it, but they are little help.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Al

Hello and welcome!

I'm not sure if it could be this one:

The Bells - Amstrad CPC Longplay.

The only games I can think of with a memorable thing coming down from the top when you die were the Manic Miner / Jet Set Willy titles although this was a seperate screen not a thing on the playscreens as such.

Sounds like Ghouls to me.

A spirit-crushingly-difficult game that (for the time) had really good sound!
I played it a heck of a lot back in the day. I'm sure it caused more than a few destroyed joysticks!

Gamers these days think that Super Meat Boy, Dark Souls etc. are hard games.
Pffft. No. Compared to Ghouls they are "mildly challenging"!

The only things I remember coming down to you after time has passed were Bubble Bobble and maybe Chucky Egg (or when you finish all the levels), but no wacawacawaca.
That wacawacawaca sound in my mind reminds me of a pacman eating dots in a row.

Heh, this looks cute! How did you find it in the end?

Oh, and welcome :)

Thanks for the site link, I did not know of that site before, if it is new I hope it has a long life.

I basically google amstrad games and looked through about 15 pages of images - i must of been 7-8 last time i played it (and im 32 now) - amazing how the brain works!
