The best racers on the CPC...

sigh

Nice video even if I dont agree with many of those choices.

I would of taken out Toyota and Turbo cup, replacing them with Martechs Nigel Mansel and Super Cycle. Both of those 2 games give a far better impression of speed and smoothness than Turbo and Toyota.

I really enjoy playing Turbo Cup, needs strategy to win through. Each corner needs to be mapped  :)  I really enjoyed Toyota as well, you can actually get really good at throwing the back end out on corners, once you get the hang of things. Super Cycle is definitely good, but it's not one I reach for over the games selected. I just didn't get on with Martech's F1 effort, but I can appreciate what the programmers were trying to do.

well I am addicted to Wec Le Mans, have been looking around for a good bike race sim, decided to get Angel Nieto Pole 500, now halfway through translating the Spanish instructions! Looks pretty decent so worth the hassle

My favorites were
1) Buggy Boy  (was the most playable and the funiest of the bunch. )
2) Chase HQ (was a great show off to my friends with c64 and speccy)
3) Wec Le Mans (don't remember why, but I remember playing this one for countless hours : )

Well,  not really a Racing Sim, but i played Turbo Esprit for weeks.

Chevy chase is soooo smooth.
Wish this was the engine for outrun.

What this video makes me think is that the CPC wasn't exactly a slouch when it came to quality smooth fast racing games.  Some great stuff here.
Favorite CPC games: Count Duckula 3, Oh Mummy Returns, RoboCop Resurrection, Tankbusters Afterlife

Yeah , I always felt that  this is the genre which the Amstrad could hold its own in. It didn't seem to struggle to cope with racers. Admittedly there are plenty of poorly programmed pieces of crap out there , but also there is a great deal of quality stuff . The poorly programmed pieces were nothing to do with the machine inadequacies I must add.

Now if we could just add a Ferrari instead of a Chevy, we'd be racing into the sunset humming 'Passing Breeze'.

Lovely video mate, thanks :) Impressive titles as well, it made me wanna play them all!

This makes me wonder what the talented coders out there could do with the genre. I don't think there has been a modern attempt at a racing game?
