Hello everyone,
After some absence (mainly caused by the birth of my ever so sweet son Philipp), I finally have the time to post the final version of my Bejeweled-Clone "Gem Jam". You can find details about the genesis here: https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/programming/my-lockdown-project-a-bejeweledcandycrush-clone/ (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/programming/my-lockdown-project-a-bejeweledcandycrush-clone/)
As I mentioned there, I added some music (three tunes – and a huge thank you goes out to Targhan and his Arkos Tracker!!!), a little manual screen, high score and some menu options.
Have fun and let me know how you like it!
All the best!
PS.: RUN"DISK , of course!
Thanks for the update, and of course congrats and tons of wishes for your newest best buddy!!! :)
PS my little one just loves running around. I just realised I haven't made a RUN"" t-shirt for him, how stupid of me.

Thank you! My Philipp is still rather kicking his legs rather than running, but I'm afraid we will have to be quick once he's started walking...

Wow, I think I never spent a whole hour actually playing the game, even while debugging :P

wow great game @arnolde (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=4276) !!
its so addictive!!
i think that i bugged the game. i was doing a line in the last second and the screen corrupted! (it happened again, same thing, doing a row in the last second)

I'm happy you like it!

Wow, that never occurred to me – but I can totally see why it happens... Apparently, the timer gets crazy. I'll fix it soon!
Thanks
Here you go, I fixed it! I changed the attachment in the top post to the debugged Disk file!
Have a nice evening!

Was related with the counter reaching zero?

Well, that's what i thought as well, but it turned out that I made quite sure that the timer bar is able to display every value from 0 to 32 correctly and also it shouldn't happen that the time variable holds another amount than that.
But... I found out that when the game status byte was set to #E1 (my exit code for "time out"), this value was stored to the timer variable accidentally, due to sloppy conditional branching. Usually, that did no harm, because the game is aborted at this point, but if a succesful row came in between, the timer tried to draw a bar of #E1 = 225 * 2 mode 0 pixels... (and even add the bonus time to this amount!)
I'm looking forward to Xyphoe playing Gem Jam on his livestream tonight!

Btw, I'm on twitter now: @leosoftCPC
I just had a quick game. Really well implemented version of the classic. Nicely done without getting the messy sprites etc that usually occur with this type of game with limited colours. One request tho @arnolde (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=4276) if I may... would it be possible to add the MultiPlay Amiga Mouse as a control option. I find this type of game plays better with mouse control? and the more games we can get compatible with the only remotely available hi resolution mouse interface perhaps we could make it a standard!
Just to add, I extracted the game onto my M4. it works perfectly there too. including the high score saving. A brilliant touch and great game. I am really enjoying it.
