All,

I've been trying to find an INFINITE FUEL cheat for the second part of BIGGLES, but I have been unable to untangle the web of codings for this game. Can someone with some coding knowledge please have a quick look for me?

You can download the game from here. When you |CPM, select 2 (THE SECRET WEAPON) and then enter DOVE as the password.

Here are some initial findings that may, or may not, help you get started;

&3377 is where the game variables etc are initialised.

&534B checks for CRASHED flag (&0763) as &FF, CALLing &4E27; the GAME OVER routine.
I tried to work backwards from here, but couldn't work out what was what!

I did notice that &067D was connected to the ALTitude variable in some way, but couldn't actually find the ALT variable to confirm or deny this. &067D is &20 when descending with fuel, but is &00 when fuel is depleted and descending.

When the fuel is depleted the player loses ALT, eventually crashing (&534B).

I might have to re-grow my hair so I can pull it back out again! (Here's a recent picture of me so you can see why I'd have to grow it again!)

Thanks in advance,
- JTMS...

Having long hair would just hide those fine features and classy tattoos of yours, stick with the bald look :)

Indeed! I am a pretty princess! ^_^

I'm sure you just polished up for the picture, no one can possibly look that good all of the time!

Yeah, you're right. That was taken a few hours after church a couple of weeks ago.
For some reason, I had a pew all to myself! God knows why! ^_^

Mr. Olsen, sir, you are simply amazing... once again!

In WinAPE, load the game and start playing. Then, press F3 to bring up the assembler. Click FILE, then NEW and c/p the code below.
Finally, press CTRL+F9 to assemble the code. Close both windows to return to the game. Infinite Fuel... thanks to the man above! ^_^

Sad only, that many games don't work on a CPC 464 because improper cracking methods...

Be careful if there is a storm outside, all the metal will attrack lightnings

Well ok, back to topic then. While you play biggles, I think back on one of my favorite games...

I never heard of this website, I did Google about for pokes and cheats but this site didn't come up in search results. Maybe because it's French perhaps, but thanks for the share!

WOW

I'd never seen or heard of this game, that looks truly *stunning* ... and for 1983??? Those 3D polygon graphics are VERY impressive for its age - the smoothness actually puts to shame a lot of modern 3D games!!!
DAMN and BLAST the 'video game crash' of 1983, otherwise I might have seen or heard of this game more (it came out around that time and very few were made it seems). Again, thanks for the share!

Anyway....

Thank you firstly to tastefulmrship who I actually messaged asking for help looking for pokes in this game - of course, I'm doing a longplay as I loved the movie this game was based on as a kid and really like the first section of the game a lot, this helicopter section though is a pain in the arse because the amount of exploring and difficulty landing all the time to check out people or objects to pick up - by the time you've got to one object/person your fuel is already running near empty and it's a mad hunt to find more fuel which could be any of the 'blue dots' on the map! ARGGH! So I needed infinite fuel so I could at least explore around and make a map of where to go to quickly. So thanks sir for taking a good look!

And thank you to Johnny Olsen who yet again ... has come through with the pokes!!!! My saviour previously with A View To A Kill and others!!

Just quickly... using the assembler method doesn't seem to work unless I'm being a complete dumbass. However if I just poke them manually via the debugger it does work ... and voila - INFINITE FUEL!!! Yay!!  ;D

Strange side quirk is that it seems I don't take any damage now too as well!!  :P

Side note .... this is quite a good little copter and shoot-em-up despite a few niggles and confusion over direction at times, shame its ruined by overly difficult fuel consumption!!

Huh, that's a site I've never visited...

As a young boy I played it in France during my holidays at the Cote d'Azur. I had to catch Octopus and sell it for getting new money for the game ;-) This game was fascinating me more than any other game ever.
However for that time the game was totally ahead of time, and people didn't know what to do with it. Few only played it, good for me ;-)

Well at last I did the long play.

But I could not do the 2nd section without the cheats we found for it ... in the end I did not want to waste any more of my limited/precious time I have at present!  :P

The 2nd (helicopter) section starts at 20:30

It has a severe bug in that the tasks you meant to complete - when you do it is supposed to reveal the location of the next task to go to, but does not! Making the game virtually impossible!
Shame, as there's a lot going for it.

Thanks again Johnny Olsen and tastefulmrship! Much appreciated because I've always wanted to at least see the end of this game since a kid, the first section was kinda cool!
