Hit Squad - CPC game list?

I wondered if anyone had ever compiled a list (partial or complete) of the Hit Squad titles on CPC?

I know people often collect these titles, what with them being numbered and having uniform sleeves (which is ironic as back in the day I can't imagine anyone choosing these budget re-releases over the originals).

If not then maybe I'll try and put something together, like they did on Lemon one time.

I preferred them cos having a small cassette case rather than a big box meant they fit into my sliding tape drawers all nice and neatly.  I've never been a big fan of boxes being far larger than necessary to contain the item inside.
Favorite CPC games: Count Duckula 3, Oh Mummy Returns, RoboCop Resurrection, Tankbusters Afterlife

I'm with you there. Although a lot of the boxes of mine ended up going in the bin at one point due to sheer lack of space. I used to have a LOT of tape games back in my day. ;)
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

@pinace: Are those versions preserved? If they are similar to the Amiga releases then they use different tape loaders to the original/full price releases. And have you spoken to Bruno for adding this info to CPC-Power?

pinace

#5
Yes, last versions use diferent loaders than original versions but only a little are preserved.

MartynC

pinace, that is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

Only issue I think is Arcade 57, Space Gun, which was only released on disk on CPC. Arcade 57 should be Super Space Invaders.

If the list is complete, then it is the same as the Spectrum list except from the above, Space Gun, and Sports 03 which is Match Point on CPC and Konami's Tennis on Spec.

zeropolis79

Actually, Super Space Invaders is Arcade 58 on the Spectrum...

arnoldemu

Nice list.

We need a double check of this list against the inlays of the cpc versions and a mark indicating if it has been dumped or not.

Yes, Arcade 57 is Super Space Invaders... I use an old list ^_^

I have edited the list and think it's fine and complete.

@pinace: And do you have a list of the "Serie Leyenda" and other spanish re-releases?

pinace

#12
@SyX: No I haven't, but I think there would be no problem in doing it if I consult my game list, deepfb game list and Abraxas game list :)

I only have lists of KIXX, CodeMasters, Players, Hi-Tec, Atlantis.... I made it a few years ago to complete my CPC software collection.

Gryzor

Some great releases on that list...

When I was a kid I didn't differentiate between big boxes and budget releases and indeed the latter fit into my drawers much easier (though big boxes looked much nicer). Nowadays, however, I don't bother with budget re-releases...

even as a kid I would tend towards a big box offering. Mainly because these could be found on disc and I had a Cpc 464 + dktronics 64k expansion + ddi1, and after that a 6128plus  so I'd always want the disc original if available and then need the disc original for the tape socket free plus .

That is amazing! :) And i think that it should be documented at least in the wiki, because when i'm looking budget games for comparing games with other 8 bits systems, i need to remember company names... and thinking about it, i don't know if Elite's budget label "Encore" (if i'm not wrong), made CPC releases.

Of course SyX, Encore made CPC releases: All the Elite and Durell catalog :)
