Is there a English version of Ubisoft's 'Zombi' available as a download?

I have been trying to give this game a run on Winape, and I can only seem to find French or Spanish versions. Which I don't mind using, but they do not seem to run properly? The game seems to lock up as I am trying to activate the lift on the third floor. The timer still runs but you cannot use any icons etc? Has anyone tested this game on Winape and knows of a working download of it? Or is it a user error? This seems like it could be a pretty good game.

The game seems to use Loco Basic's letters...
Shouldn't be that hard (just long) to hack it into an English/Hellenic/Deutsch/Australian/austrichtian/Swedish/Thailand version.

I would like to check if the graphics are really into 1bpp stored.
If not, could be upgraded into 2bpp graphics.

No english version there ?

oh yeah, only Espench and Frañol versions.

got a look at the game.

The character's faces are in 2bpp 8octets width.

The blue and red patcheds parts (the one which can be used) from the graphic windoware in 4 octet 2bpp.

I fail to see how the options are coded but they seems to be somewhat 8octets wide perhaps in 2bpp but encoded differently they don't display easily.

Othewise I failed to find many other graphics.

No letters as those from the firmware seem used..

I'm sure this was an English release also, so I do not know what has happened to a version of this for English speakers.That is not the main problem for me though , I am just confused that it seems to partially lock up when I am pressing an elevator button, I do not know whether it is due to me being attacked by a Zombi or what? It doesn't seem to accept button pushes or anything. The timer just continues???

That really could take a while to do, because several of those languages will need to be invented before we start on the translation :D

Gryzor

In what language, exactly?

(and if you didn't catch the irony, take a look at the flag under my avatar :D )

Not really, it's an ancient Greek word but I don't know why MacDeath chose to use it!

MacDeath

Ελληνική*** Δημοκρατία ?

How Ελληνική can be supposed to be spelled Greek ? (grèque?)

Ε=Gr
λλ=ee
ηνική=K
?
???

Frankly from a Gallican Gaulois from Franca Gallicae Gallicum Francorum born in Lugdunum... with love.

I remember Brennos, the "French" Goidel  Keld Celtic Gaulois warchief who plundered Delphia.
(and Brennus who plundered Roma, but yeah, italians are rare in Amstradom)

Sorry, I promised to no more shitpost while drunk... obviously I failed again.

***Elliniki ?

Post Edit : in French, Greece is fat...
yeah, understands who can...

Gryzor

Hahaha - bless you, that was funny :D

Yeah, that's how it is -in Greek. in English it is, of course, "Greek", not "Hellenic".

Still no English version found!?
Is anyone familiar with the workings of this game btw?

Gryzor

@dcdrac: yes, if you're writing a treatise on the ancient Greek language, yes :p

Yeah, darn, no english version yet...

When you 1st try to call the elevator at the third floor, you get attacked by a zombi (you get a small noise after the elevator sound). You have to fight the zombi by quickly toggling between left-right on the joystick (or x/z on the keyboard). There is a status bar between the view and the control panel that will grow up in red.
Well, in winape I did never manages to win. Maybe the keyboard handling is too slow compared to a real CPC.

I had the English version on tape way back

Same here, but on disc. CPC Version is good, but compared to other platforms not so well done as it could be.

Not sure, IIRR then there was also a German version.

CPC version is not as good as other version because it was the very first.

other version had some upgrades with interface, while CPC wasn't edited.

Hurlement is somewhat the Zombi2 with updated engine and werewolves.

Many Graphic datas were re-used as well...
Sadly such game could have used some multimode screen...

TFM

Yes, or at least all four colors in Mode 1, and not only two (and the other two to highlight).

Nevertheless, I liked the game back the day. Even if it could be better, it's not bad.
