It does crash when leaving the title screen with any external expansions connected. But works fine in plus mode with both a Parados and Stock cart. Excellent crack, many thanks.

And I've just tested it on the new beta version of WinAPE, and... it also crashes as soon as you start playing a screen!

Back to the drawing board, then... I don't know how I'm going to fix this one given that my knowledge of the Plus hardware is very limited.

An update - I've had a few more goes at it and now it doesn't seem to crash. I don't know what's going on!

Well on the real plus hardware it works fine so long as the expansion port is empty. So just note that. Let's face it, it's not the first game that needs all expansions removed.

I've worked it out now. It seems that pressing the Q key causes the game to reset. I've tested the original disc and Chany's crack and it affects these versions as well. I hadn't played the game in a while and thought the Q key was used for bouncing upwards! At least it's a relief that I'm not entirely at fault.

I'll see if I can patch the game to prevent the crash from occurring and then release a new crack.

Does it use Interrupt Mode 0 or 2? They should be the only things really affected by hardware expansions unless it does some weird IN instructions.

No, it uses interrupt mode 1.
