Hi all,

I just made a small video for the wonderful AMSTRAD CPC game PINGPONG by KONAMI (1985).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvA83jLcOhI
I can say that I had played the games some times in my childhood via joystick (cannot be played on keyboard) and it seemed a bit difficult in last levels.

I re-discovered it some months ago and I can say it is a very good and enjoyable game if you get used to it, and change position via pressing space.

Not much fun in low levels as it is very slow, but you can get used to the gameplay in low levels.

Highly recommended, I suggest you can try it again, it has more potential than you may realise in a first try.

Many thx!

Hahah once you get to level 3, the speed of the ball is absolutely crazy and it gets more insane.

I agree, this is well worth keeping with rather than writing it off. :)
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

I played ping pong as part of a team in my youth and I was quite good. I really hated this game in the computer since I found the controls too inaccurate. Maybe with joystick was better but since I didn't have one I abandoned trying...

It was difficult for me with joystick, now that I play it in an emulator with the keys I want, it is very enjoyable

The game plays just fine on joystick, but the timing needed to serve takes a little time to master.
Once you've done that... the gameplay is stupidly addictive!

Used to play ping-pong for a team in my teens as well (then the knee went bust...). And I actually enjoyed this quite a lot back in the day. I still remember it was on the same tape as Fruity Frank (erm).

I also remember that it looked and felt different from your usual CPC game...

Played this a lot back in the 80s ... just gave it a go and came instant to Lvl 4  :P

But yeah, Eye/Movement/Finger Control is different today (should I say worse ???:picard:

Thanks for reminding me of this nice game. I spent hours with it back in the days and just gave it a go again... Hard fight in Level 1, easily won Level 2, clearly lost in Level 3. Need some practice again... :-)

I quite literally was thinking of this game less than 3 days ago.
I remember it being easy to beat! but after hearing other's, perhaps I am wrong. I think joystick choice was important, again, I seem to remember having an atari joystick, which I think helped. slightly to small, but responsive. *flashback*
