Hehe that's nice, I'm buying it :)

Targhan

I bought Oil Panic, it's a nice little game. I just expected that in 2021, sprites could be displayed without so much flickering.

Disark - A cross-platform Z80 disassembler/source converter

Imperial Mahjong

Gryzor

Yeah, I noticed the flickering too, it's a bit distracting given the nature of the game where no animation is present, but looks very nice otherwise.

Redbug

v2 will come soon (with new intro part & reduced flickering) ;)
v1 was just a quick release done on Twitch without enough betatesting.

Thanks for your nice comment anyway ;)

Nice to see that G&W port - I guess once there's a game and watch rendering engine, porting other G&W (and similar, I played a Tomy Caveman game when I was younger) games will be easier, depending on how well understood the game logic is?

Oh, amazing! An QR code generator. I did search for such an algorithm for CPC, but never got detailed information. Where did you get it?

Just from the one example in the video it seems to me that it's a custom implementation.
Most of the complexity comes from QR codes having a large set of modes, ECC and data whitening schemes that a generator chooses from to get an optimal representation. Since the size of the QR code here is fixed rather than dependent on the data (the large amount of unused code space is obvious in the repeating pattern on the right) then only one mode/ecc/whitening combination needs to be statically implemented, which is a lot simpler to do.

great game... I'm now at level 36, currently paused so I can get some lunch ;-)

Some comments:

- I don't fully understand the scoring system. Is that somewhere documented?
- is the alarm related to how close I am to the lower border or something else? At least once it went on, when I was far above the border.
- I had one time where a ball connected on the left side of the frame, just to jump over to the middle of the screen and stick there, almost killing me. The angle I was shooting was pretty extreme.

@eto : When it comes to scoring, I typed run"readme.bin and got some info:

SCORING
How is scoring calculated when more than three bubbles of the same color are popped?
Each bubble is worth 5 points. A triple is worth 15 points, a quad is 20, etc

How is scoring calculated when multiple bubbles drop?
The first bubble is 20, and each additional bubble scores double. Thus: 1 bubble: 10 points, 2 bubbles: 15, 3 bubbles: 22, 4 bubbles: 44, ...

Thanks, I missed the readme.bin

But funny enough, doubling 20 each time will not lead to 10,15,22,44 ... I still do not understand the logic behind that. And during gameplay, I have the impression, there is somehow an upper limit in the area of 10000. I popped a bunch of balloons and reached around 9000 - the next time I popped many many more, and just around 10000. Not sure if that's the case or if my impression is wrong, but this seems to be consistent. In the arcade version it's strictly doubling 20. This also allows to reach millions of points. It's fine if it is different here, I just would like to understand it.

One thing that I am also missing is the time factor. In the arcade you will get special points for clearing a round fast. In this version, you will be punished for clearing fast as you don't get a lot of points. Level 100 is the best example. You will win with the first shot, but you will only get a minimum number of points. But it's fine if it's missing, it was just not expected as I remembered from the arcade that I got a lot of points in those rounds that could be cleared in seconds.

A really great game... Love it.

This is really awesome and could be a great basis for online highscores :-). Is it possible to include the secret code into the QRCode, so you don't have to type this in manually?

Redbug

The secret code is already in the QRCode ;)
For the score, the first is 10 ;) Error in the readme.

And I see that your are a Puzzle Bobble expert ;)
Score has been decreased compared to the arcade version. I didn't want to explode the 32 bits integer used for the score ;)
Bonus time is not handled neither. And I could understand why you need it.. Will try to add it in v1.1

hmh... when I scanned the QR code I was sent to a page where I first had to select for which game I want to submit and then I had to enter the code manually. I will try again and let you know if it works.

The sequence is still not doubling ;-) Is there an upper limit for the number of points or did I just never have enough bubbles to get (much) more than 10000 points?

Btw: it's totally fine to have a different scoring system than the arcade. I just didn't understand it immediately.

I now did a quick check: seems the scoring is maxed out after 16 bubbles. For 16 bubbles I get 9369 (15=4164, 14=3176) points and anything above will also only give 9369 points. I tried with up to 27 bubbles and always only received 9369 points.
