Operation Thunderbolt may be worth checking out. Infact it may only be worth it if you play it 2 player as playing alone the game has always felt impossible. Of cause the arcade game was also quite relentless, but i feel that unlike Operation Wolf, they forgot to scale down difficulty/makeing it playable in home computer version. So playing two player, each covering a side of the screen it just feel a bit less impossible.

The Goonies has a two player option a bit out of the ordinary. Probably not for everyone as if you have never played the game and dont know the screens/workings then you'll just get annoid at each other. But if you do know the game then playing together does give you that "accomplisment together"-feeling. (a bit like a early multiplayer raid i guess).

Guerrilla War is another game where it helps being two at the same time. This one it also pay off to know the game, aka enemy placement etc or two player may just be a hindrance. Also is probably the only game that actually emulates the rotary joysticks of the Ikari style games.

Played the Amiga version of North & South "to death" with my brother & friends. Sadly never experienced the Amstrad version, but if its even just half as good then its a incredible two player experience.

Rock & Wrestle is the ultimate "humiliate your friend" emulator. Most people probably underestimate how many combat moves the game has. Sometimes i forget some myself because not only does it depend on if you face your enemy or not (front, side and back differes), it also depends on you are facing n/s or e/w, if you are standing, running, stunned, climbing the corner, energy left of you vs the enemy & much more. Still easy to get into if you both inexperinced but if you play against someone who know the game then expect to be thrown around like a bag of potaotes the second you make your first mistake.

The Oddities:
Bruce Lee - Donno what they was thinking with this one letting you control the sumo as he dosnt spawn on each stage. Are you there to as a enemy AI or to help your friend ? Then there is the odd yell.
Yie Ar Kung Fu 2 - a weird unbalanced game. Quite noticable as the game dosnt have that many actual combat moves sp the player playing a "boss" char usually ends up just spamming the "frozen ball/dove"-supermove & usually wins.

Honorary mentions: Bloodwych & Dandy.

Oh! Fernando Martin - excellent in two-player mode, spent an amazing amount of hours on it with my mate.

Not many basketball games on the CPC, were there?

I found this:

which, despite the atrocious scrolling and animation looks nice, and I just recalled Two on Two:

...which looks awful but as an early title it gave me so much fun.

I agree Fernando Martin Basket is great, but I really enjoyed much more Two on Two as 2p game. Worse graphics, but strategy, passing, speed...

Ahhh I seem to remember the point from which all shots would go in... a bit to the side of the basket, halfway between it and the 3-point line towards the bottom of the screen?

Don't know if this sort of game appeals to you but if you don't mind a bit of strategy mixed with arcade action I'd recommend giving Archon: The Light and the Dark a spin, it's one I used to love playing with friends. If you've not seen it, it plays a bit like chess with mythical / fantasy themed pieces but when you move one of your pieces onto a space with an opposing piece the game changes into an arcade style one on one duel between the two to determine which wins and survives.

Both the strategy and action parts are fairly simple and accessible, but they combine together pretty well to make a decent, fun and unique game. Archon 2: Adept is also good but far more complex so if you've not played them, I'd recommend trying the first game first.
FANTASTIC GAMES!!!! THANX A LOT!!!!
