Has anybody else ever come across problems managing to do the extended jump(For want of a better word), (jumping from bottom level of screen to top). This control seems really poor and inconsistent when trying to get up and down on levels, seems to be worse on Stage 2. This virtually makes the game unplayable for me, I do not know whether it is an emulator problem , or Key config issues or what . Bloody annoying though. Any advice?

sigh

Not to sure about the emulated version, but I had no problems executing the high jump on the actual amstrad.

Aren't you sure the joystick you use is not faulty?

Puresox

Yes I am certain it is not the joystick, I have tried selecting various keyboard set-ups also, and get the same results . I'll give it another try.It must, be how i have the emulator set , Know one else appears to have any issues. Grrrr, shame cos it ruins a great game

I seem to remember holding fire, while pushing up or down always working.  Of course, this is likely to screw you over if you're going for the 20k no shoot bonus, but still.  This is where two-button joysticks would be useful.

Always perfectly worked for me , on CPC or emulator , that's weird you have problem with this.

Yeah, I have worked out the problem  that I was having , and it was due to not jumping in the specific section of mission 2 stage 1- There is a very small window of where you can jump up the level. After finding, the issue was resolved  :D .Case closed.

we're all getting too old for this s###... can't no more do a good synchronised up+fire maneuver as we used to... :D
And can't remember those old dirty tricks from level design. ;)

shinobi is really a fun game on CPC.
I remember I used to kill only with kick/sabre, because the animation and sprite was cool, I recently heard it is actually a trick used by arcade pro-hi-scorers to get more points.

I wished this engine could be properly analysed and cracked so we could get extra Graphic packs and levels, or even some PLUS attention because at some levels, the graphics are somewhat rushed (calculated cross dev automatic graphic portage?) on CPC and try too hard to cope with other versions palette.

But hey, the original arcade game sometimes used shitty palettes as well (IMO).

You're right my friend, like other Richard APLIN games , gfx sucks (they may have asked Mark K. JONES to do the job!) , that's a shame as it is a good conversion for me  ::)  (i like a lot music !)

sigh

The C64 sprite in shinobi is excellent.

CPC Shinobi is a wonderful game, but only really worth the purchase if you have 128kb.

Just managed to convert my broken competion pro joystick to work on the system! So now I have proper joystick control!
