I will buy this as soon as it available and chris94 is 100% correct - a good Wolfenstein clone on the CPC would be fantastic. I had to use a PC to play that game and it always irritated me that there was nothing like it on the CPC.

(monster lurking in the dark) Gneeheheee.

What do you think I have in mind since I started cpc-dev-tool-chain late 2013?  ;) (Well, I had in mind the lack of a proper integrated development toolchain so I made one and shared it as free software.)

Now our CPC scene ecosystem has cpc-dev-tool-chain, and cpctelera. Time to continue building step by step.

Wolfenstein project? Not exactly.

So, I'm on something. Actually it's not exactly a Wolfenstein clone. I'm aiming at something different.

On a different platform I did this game fully in assembly for a 2MHz, 32k RAM machine... partly in 1996, 1997, 1999:

Which I mentioned already here:

http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/games/wolfenstein-3d-on-the-cpc/msg56434/#msg56434
http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/games/the-shadows-of-sergoth-a-dungeon-crawler-on-the-amstrad-cpc/msg150966/#msg150966

But the current project is different and I think it's best not to say much at the time.

Perhaps a team may form, where I'd do most code, and other people would do art (graphics, music), and some things will be common (game design, level design)? Feedback (forum, private) welcome.
Had a CPC since 1985, currently software dev professional, including embedded systems.

I made in 2013 the first CPC cross-dev environment that auto-installs C compiler and tools: cpc-dev-tool-chain: a portable toolchain for C/ASM development targetting CPC, later forked into CPCTelera.

WOW! Instantly the very, very best game on CPC, ever!
Simply amazing! Thanks and respect to all involved! Top job! ^_^

NOTE: Make sure the discs are WRITE ENABLED, otherwise the game crashes to BASIC when changing key definitions.

Think to remove the option "Automatically Run Program" on Winape "Open Disc File" Window or the CPC will restart when inserting face B

I was unable to launch the game until now because of that :D

Happy Birthday for tomorrow @Targhan !

Targhan

Thanks :).

Tested it on a real CPC for 10 minutes, it looks great! I was just surprised by the saving system, but I'll get used to it.

Damn, that cover and manual make me want to have it professionally printed! No point in ordering a single print for myself though. Am I correct in assuming the case is meant to be a double cassette? I really like this format, even though it's super fragile.

I have yet to play it on a CPC, does it detect double sided 3.5 drives and switch sides automatically? Else I'll put the image on a real 3" disc.

reidrac

I can't believe this was released and I missed it!  :picard:

Looks fantastic, I'll try to give it a go tonight. Thank for the game!
Released The Return of Traxtor, Golden Tail, Magica, The Dawn of Kernel, Kitsune`s Curse, Brick Rick and Hyperdrive for the CPC.

If you like my games and want to show some appreciation, you can always buy me a coffee.

Xifos

I just tried it and went to level 2 !

A wonderful game !

(where you run away from green bats !)

Have you find "Cure Poison" Spell ?

Because i'm also in Level 5, my character is poisoned and i haven't Cure Potion anymore. I fear my game is lost  ???

Targhan

Yes, I have it. Found it on level 2 or 3, I don't remember. There is also a "poison resistance spell" that exists, but it must be used before a fight, obviously.

On level 4 exists also a very well hidden object to help you with poison :).

Well, well, i feel i'm going to restart and deeply search secrets in previous levels.

Targhan

Are you sure you explored everything? The mini map should be complete for all levels. Maybe you have the spell and haven't noticed.
The object I'm talking about is not mandatory, I found it completely at random (it is not behind a hidden wall or something).

No, i missed part of map, but i can only make 50 steps before death by poison.

Targhan

Ouch. Do you have the "cure" spell? MMmh, what happens if you rest??

A hint for players:
Using the teleportation to another level saves the game, so don't hesitate to travel back often to the teleporter of the level!

I am stuck in the 2nd level, there is a 7 number password spread in 7 papers in the level and 5 swithces in the north center of the map, ive tried everything but nothing happens, i have looked the entire map and there is one door that asks me for a key, i have 2, but none of them work.

i dont know if there is a fake wall or something but ive searched for it and i didnt found any. (anyway a fake wall will make the things frustrating and not fun).

does anyone know what to do there?  :'(

Try hitting the switches in order - "2115435"
So, hit the second from the left, left-most twice, right-most, second from right, middle then finally the right-most switch!

Then go through the teleport to level 3!

Also, you're not going to like LEVEL 5... it is full of fake walls and hidden passages! ^_^

The "CURE POISON" spell is in the "secret" area of level 3!
