Title: Three games from the WACCI PD library
Post by: ComSoft6128 on 12:08, 31 August 19
Two text adventures and "Escape from WACCI" - I think all are Pre-1990.

1. BARTREK - 0:50 to 3:40 - this was programmed by Richard Brooksby author of ADLAN.

2. BUSBY a WACCI Adventure - 4:06 to 7:30 - a text adventure with a slightly more humorous adult slant on the genre. I like this one enough to have a better look at it in a few weeks. Consists of one 20+k Binary file so should be quite extensive.

3. Escape from WACCI - 7:46 to 11:46 - Endless (OK 4 minutes) trek thru corridors looking for a key I never find.

If anyone would like copies of these games (on 3" or 3.5" disc) please PM me.

Hi @zeropolis79 (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=115) ,

I don't think BUSBY is available online so if you look at your disc and its not there let me know and I'll send a copy to you.

Cheers,

Peter

I remember "Escape from WACCI" being a 128Kb game, but the funny thing about it is on CPC-POWER  (https://www.cpc-power.com/index.php?page=detail&num=2916), it's being treated as a Bug!
Some translating revealed the original game used CALL &BD5B which only exists on the 6128, unsure if the later 464 Plus has it though, but I guess the 6128 Plus would, however the CPC-Power version of "Escape from WACCI" has been modified to accomodate any CPC with 128Kb.

There are so many Amstrad PD text adventures missing from the archives. Glad to hear that Busby has been located.

Cheers @Strident (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=2702) ,

Copies of the files will be posted off to @Nich (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=53) next week who I'm sure will make them available to the wider CPC community quite quickly.

If I find any more text adventures I will pass them on to CPCWiki as soon as I can.

Peter

Very cool, thanks. :) Hopefully one day we can recover more of the Adventure PD disk & tape archive of games too.... There are far too many missing titles from the late 80s and early 90s.

It's been located and archived now on CPCRulez, under the name of The WACCI Adventure (https://cpcrulez.fr/GamesTest/the_wacci_adventure.htm). :)

I actually don't know what the official name of this adventure is. BUSBY.BIN was the filename in the directory, although the file header states it was originally saved as WACCI.BIN. The text in the introduction reads "Welcome to the WACCI adventure!", so that's the name I'm using.

For those of you who remember the Better than Life disczine from the mid-1990s, some of the stuff in The WACCI Adventure makes BTL look tame by comparison. Goodness knows what any of the WACCI team, if they're still around (I know that some of them have visited this forum in the past), would make of it...

Oops! :-[ I've fixed that now. That's not the first time I've put the wrong link on one of my posts in this forum...
