A new retro adventure is joining the catalog of the classic Amstrad CPC. It's "Tony Montezuma's Gold," a game developed by NRG Studio that will have its world premiere on August 15th during the NOCNE RETRO GRANIE (NRG2025) festival, an event dedicated to the world of retro gaming and the demoscene.

Inspired by the exploits of Polish explorer and filmmaker Tony Halik, the game invites us to embark on a pixelated journey through ancient civilizations as we explore the secrets of the legendary Montezuma Castle. With a setting that pays homage to classic 1980s games, this production promises to be a gem for Amstrad CPC fans.[/pre]

During the event, attendees will be able to try out the full demo on real Amstrad hardware, chat with the developer, and discover previously unseen details about the creative process. A special collector's edition cassette has also been announced, featuring exclusive bonus content.

For those unable to attend the festival, the game will also be available digitally through the developers' official website. Here are some videos.

Looks cute and playable! I'm not sure about the "monochrome" thing, but I guess that's the concept :).

Have just uploaded game to itch.io.
Sorry keeping you waiting but it has been a busy weekend for me.
Please check if all loads OK.
Tape version is just with loading screen for faster loading on the tape.
Disk version includes intro which eventually loads the game.
Please don't be cruel with your opinions :-)

Looks great! But you could use two more colors in MODE 1 on CPC.  :) :) :)
Also please can you modify the game that it can run with expansion ROMs connected?
The tune is awesome!!!

Looks very good!

The only thing I'd change is the way the main sprite is rendered, as it can be confusing in front of ladders.

Hi

You mean one more color :-) (I used 3 already) - I am considering adding green for some elements, will see
Yes, will try to fix running with ROMs connected - I think I know how to do it
Other thing on my list is to be able to work properly from drive B

And the tune is great thanks to legendary Adam Gilmore (but this is his first music for Amstrad I think, he did a lot for C64 and Atari)

Haha, this is the part I spent most time on.
Yes, I have on my list some improvements when it comes to main character movement but as we know we dont have hardware sprites here. I believe sprite rendering visually looks similarily as on the other platforms though...
