Title: Trying to locate a game that I am not sure was released called "Bananas"
Post by: Puresox on 19:41, 01 October 11
Hi,I am Hoping to find out Info about a game which was given to me on a selection of copied games in about 84/85.
It was given to me from a relative who I believe was working with a Programmer from 'Arctic' or 'Mogul Communications'
I do not have the game any more. But will try and describe it as best I can.
I think it was called 'Banana's'
It was a 'Pengo' clone where you had to push crates into monkeys that prowled around the screen.
The Scoreboard design was the same as that on 'Fire Ant' , 'Gilligan's Gold' and 'Frank n'Stein'.
I'm not sure if 'Dave whacker' and Colin (S)Murphy are mentioned in the scrolling message.
Any info or recollections would be greatly appreciated...

It would be "Fruity Frank"? Just trying to eliminate what hasn't been mentioned!  :-[  The scoreboard from that is a bit different to Gilligan's Gold.

I tracked down a Pengo clone which was done in 1986 called Troglo which had a CPC version and PCW version. Found it on this website (http://lnx.webxprs.com/blog/2008/01/24/los-patitos-feos-del-software-espanol-16-ace-software/?lang=it).

I think I have tried all of the Known Pengo clones, but to no avail. I'm just hoping the programmer will identify it one day for me, or maybe another person who has played it. I can't see why it wasn't released it was a very good game and very polished I'm sure it was by  'Mogul' which was written on the title screen. And as I said had the same scrolling Hi-score board as on "Fire Ant". It will make my day if I ever track it down!

The Pengo Clone I came up with from Mogul Communications Ltd is a game called Pengy which was done in 1985, I found that on the World Of Spectrum though, I tried hunting down on NVG though only found a Pengo Clone called Penggy (ftp://ftp.nvg.unit.no/pub/cpc/games/arcade/penggy.zip) from 1987 (in French I think  :-[ ). CPCWiki had no games listed from Mogul Communications for the Amstrad, so I'm just wondering if it might have been made for the Amstrad. I guess it's possible as some Software Houses might of have someone port their game to the Amstrad though wouldn't normally make them for the Amstrad.

After playing Penggy though it has that popular tune from a song that I just cannot name!  :o

I found another PENGO clone, Mr Pingo by Rainbow Arts (1985).
