As a New Zealander I'm used to that; I just wonder when Vespertino will appear.

Great and all but where is the game?

6128 for the win!!!

Maybe in 5 more years we will see the actual game?   Can't get excited about teasing a picture after all these years

Yeah, is definitely a problem with over-teasing something. The hype wears off and all the excitement just fizzles away. I'm sure it will still be good, but I'm less bothered than I would have been.

At least this was generating another 4 reaction posts in this forum ;D

Best of luck to them! After such a long wait, I hope they make plenty of cartridges, that's all. It's looking great. There is no rush.

I like it that they show the progress. Even if it takes another 2 years I will still be happy to get a cartridge. It's not likely that I would switch to another platform ;-)

dodogildo

All the more reason to try to upgrade my GX to 128K. And it looks like I have plenty of time to do it!

I laughed at this :D

I don't mind the "delay" or the endless teasers. To me, it's still content. They're having fun. Let them.

I totally agree with Anthony. :)
We probably all can be very grateful receiving another fantastic game in the future.
It takes as long as it takes...

2019 was five years ago.
Pinball Dreams set a standard for delays, but at least that was beyond the control of BG.

This is exactly how I feel about it at this stage. My eyes popped out back in May 2019 when we saw the first news of it, and even then, the only valid progress we have seen are screenshots (the gameplay bits weren't even on a real CPC).

I've no doubts on BG on this, I'm sure they'll put out a belter, but I think they previewed it way too soon. Had they done the previews later, I think we'd be more excited.

Now of course, many peoples minds will change the minute a release date is put out. :)

I think they're coming out on DES style cartridges, most likely a dandanator image will come out for those who wish to re-flash that.
It'll probably depend on what's more available, I'll place a bet that the DES carts are easier to source than Amstrad Plus carts?

Won't be much use to you if it gets released on a DES cart though... unless it ends up getting converted to .cpr
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

Amstrad Plus cartridges are easy to make, the C4CPC is no longer available but widespread and the M4 can load CPR files. And my hope is, that someone will pick up a RP2350B to provide a cheap open source C4CPC successor.

It's a bit stupid that there is no real (open) cartridge standard for the CPC. The DES seems to be primarily used in the Spanish community and would limit a release primarily to the Spanish market. Is the DES now widely available to buy? I tried 2 years ago but couldn't find it or the cartridges.

Well now...
Alcon 2020 got issued on a plus cartridge and was quite successful so I wouldn't rule that out. I forgot that the M4 can load CPR's, probably because my CPC's get used more than my Plus machines do.

You can blame Amstrad for that one. Pre 1990 there was NO cartridge software despite having an obvious interface for one. Then the Plus range came out and completely redesigned it, so even if they had put out cartridge games, imagine the backward compatibility nightmare that would have been. The 6128 plus was already in that territory due to a lack of tape socket for tape games!

The great electronics shortage and Covid didn't help. My info is a few years out of date, I know people got Dandanators / DES circa 2018-2019 alright... but then, that was five to six years ago...

And to think that the Amstrad CPC had 5 years for its entire life. And games could not be published in 1990. Only immediately in 1985, 1986.

Closer to six and a half actually.
CPC464 came out in April 84 and you could still buy additional games via Amstrad themself. I bought Roland Goes Digging that way.
CPC range was still going until the end of 1990, early 1991 as they were still selling off the old Schneider ones with the grey keys re-branded.

As for games could not be published in 1990? Rick Dangerous II, Dizzy IV, Pick & Pile, Pang, Rodland and UN Squadron to name a few and all came out post Plus machine release all would like to have a word with you...

Exactly. And even in 1992, nice games got published for CPC by Psygnosis (Lemmings) or Loriciel (Psyborg, D-Day etc.)

Even in 1993... Super Cauldron got released. Prehistorik II may have been that year too but can't be sure.

You can get a lot more work done when people are paying you to do it full time and the games make actual profit.

trocoloco

I doubt it is going to be released on DES, but it would be nice if it was in different cartridge formats tho, and more work too ??? . Possible cartridge format for Vespertino, not sure about it but... just saying...

The ultimate problem with that (as it was in the day) is where there's money, there are deadlines. And games were rushed to make deadlines, and in a lot of cases, unfinished messes!

So in this respect, as much as as it contradicts my opinion, I'm happy that they're taking care and the time necessary. Five years + is a long time, however if it delivers it's promises, it'll be well worth it and in my opinion, will be a very historical day, not just for Amstrad users, but the 8 bit scene in general. And maybe that's what BG are going for.

Fingers crossed...

You're definitely right about that. It all takes it's time - and there is no company with unlimited man-power behind.  ;) :)

As I've said before, if they hadn't shot the load back in 2019 with the first initial preview, we'd have been none the wiser. They could have kept working on it, took a break for the demo and then done the preview after the demo and it wouldn't have been a five year wait in the minds of everyone else waiting on it. Not saying they should have done it that way, just saying that's what I'd have done in that situation, but of course that's very easy to say.

But hey... shoulda woulda coulda...
