If this game is possible on all these systems, why don't we have a CPC version??

Flappy Bird week until April 20th : retrobattlestations

Oddly enough one of the first games I ever made was a lil BASIC thing called Star Dodger which while not scrolling, had the same basic principles of gameplay.  But I was about 8 and was learning stuff, so I can be excused for making such crap.  The guy who 'created' Flappy Bird has no such excuse for making such deriative, unoriginal, unimaginative, artistically-devoid garbage, and the idiots who then cloned it even less so.  Let it just f***ing die already.

Do a version of Jetpack Joyride if we must have a game of that type.  It's superior in every single way.

Yes, you should do that.  :)

Don't blame the author for the success. I highly doubt he ever aimed that high.
The great thing about Android and other newer platforms, is that developers again can sit in their moms basement and develop something for fun, just like in the good old days with the CPC.  :)
To me, FlappyBird is no different than if someone wanted to make a Pong game, just to try out development.

If you're annoyed that FlappyBird became a success, then you need to look anywhere else but the author.  ;)

Personally, I blame the daily drop in the average IQ in the world....

Do you need music for your Amstrad CPC game project?
Take a look at IndieGameMusic.com - that's where I put my tracks.

Star Dodger also appeared as an ACU type in, avoid the stars in your up/down pixel spacecraft and get it through the gap on the right. IIRC it had different difficulty levels. I modded it to have the spaceship-pixel travel in arcs rather than straight lines. It was quite fun, for a small type in.

I've never played flappy bird, but I saw a video of the ZX81 version.  The fact that exists should tell you enough about how complex the game is.

I'd rather have a version of the always run/button to jump/don't die type games.

Executioner

I'm sure Axelay could do a really good Flappy Bird clone in an afternoon. I could if it came to that, and my power would stay on long enough :)

That's probably where I got it from!  Well...not ACU cos I never had those.   So.... no idea where I typed it in from.  I certainly made changes to it's graphics though as best I could at the time and even typed in a short few lines of story before level.   Also had a go at adding some music but with my youth and lack of musical skills and trying to make sound in BASIC....well... I should have programmed in a mute option too.

Yeah but I don't recall the Google Play store being so flooded with Pong games that is was impossible to see anything but Pong.   For a while nearly every bloody thing on the main pages was flappy bird clones.   Do we really need a CPC version of Flappy Bird at all?   What I meant before is that yeah fine the basic gameplay can make a good playable game (as is the case with Jetpack Joyride which I have enjoyed on PS3, PSP and my phone on occasions) but simply copying the actual crappy graphics that weren't even original in the first place and making an identical game just shows a total lack of ambition or imagination.   Am sorry that I expect better from the indie and retro communities who always claim that the big companies are always pumping out the same thing with no creativity yet it's the indies who always jump on the latest bandwagons and stupid fads without hesitation.

A version of Jetpack joyride for the CPC would be awesome! But there's also the Canabalt mockups for CPC, and very little time to do them...

Carnivius

Though it wouldn't be Jetpack Joyride as such.  Just a CPC-specific clone with all original content cos Jetpack Joyride is owned by reasonably large-ish company who would close down a rip off.  :P

Hm.  Thinking of clones.  Amsoft would have probably done Flappy Bird if they were still around as  Flappy Roland.

I'm sure they'd have done it with changing screens everytime you leave the right border... 2x8 bytes Roland In Time alike lego bricks... ;)

Very nice , thanks.
Not played the original so not , too clued up on how close it is? Very playable and smooth , maybe a little too easy , when you get the flow right.

dcdrac

where's my Thanatos remake.... ;-)

Look nice but, any chance for old CPC version?
In STARS, TREK is better than WARS.

Gryzor

Flappy Sugar. That. Only way I'd play any Flappycrap title. Thanks man!
