I hope that in 2021 we can't really compare a website spreading CPC games containing 2 average Nintendo games conversions that was not even written by the company from Kyoto (Donkey Kong and Mario Bros) to ROM Universe and its tons of Nintendo games from NES to WiiU  8)  After that, of course, anyone is sheltered from Nintendo's fury

You're looking at it from a gamers point of view though.

Look at it from a solicitor/lawyers point of view for a second.

World of difference.
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

I am not candid, but neither should we live in terror. Living in terror? Bit extreme (I took worse flack for my Gaza comparison!)

My point still stands. I'm just looking at a soulless lawyer perspective, and Nintendblow don't care unless it's a piece of property they can make money from. And like it or not, DK is a big part of that.

It's like saying that stealing goods or driving without a license is prohibited, but if he doesn't get caught he won't have a problem playing the outlaw.
In the strictest sense, yes.

But how many of us own (and highly recommend) a C4CPC? Aside from b ing slightly less convenient, is this really any different?

Nobody, and I do mean nobody, is ever going to make an enormous profit selling replica GX4000 cartridges (as long as it is clear they aren't originals). Even if they charge more than physical costs, the labour involved in assembling and distribution will wipe out any real benefit. It's a labour of love at best and I think treating it otherwise is not worth the harm it does.

It would be, if he wouldn't be selling them. Now it becomes an illegal business. The point is fair, that it doesn't cost a lot and he doesn't make a fortune from it. That's why I still have less of an issue with the "abandonware" titles. No harm done there and maybe fun to own your personal favourites on cartridge for a price that doesn't allow me to do it myself.

But as soon as we are talking about recent releases, he would need the authors permission. Without that, he's just a software pirate.

This! And no amount of attempting to justify it will convince most sane people otherwise.

the only recent title in my games bundle (correct me if I'm wrong) is 77 attempts and that's a CPCretrodev winner, freely downloadable for everyone here

https://www.octoate.de/2018/11/10/cpcretrodev-2018-results-and-41-new-games/
I've reached out to the authors of that game via Twitter but have not received a reply... so are you referring to his initial screenshot of games (which are nothing to do with me) ? or am I missing something...

Freely downloadable doesn't mean it's free. Depends on the EXACT license what is allowed.

BTW: I am not talking about you or your video. Enthusiasm is fine. And as long as he gets the approval for those non-abandonware titles, I am generally fine with it (personally... doesn't mean it's legal)

You have to stop taking this personally, first of all! :)

It's not you we're taking exception with. However out of the list the guy provided, there are several recent titles up there. Invasion Of The Zombie Monsters, Kitsune's Curse, Space Moves and Operation Alexandra just to name a few.

And yes, they're free to download, however they're NOT free to distribute for profit. That's where the problem is.

Amazing how someone can complain that someone might be J walking, and they themselves J walk.  If you J walk, let the others J walk too.  If you want to copy Amstrad commercial games which is illegal in most countries no matter how old it is so far, then don't complain about others doing so.  If you want to complain and stick to the law, do so consistently.  I am a software developer and I make money from that as a living, I'd have to change occupation if nobody paid for anything I did.  However, the other side of it is... I J Walk.  So, I will usually let others J Walk too.
