Two preview screens from Xyphoes Fantasy released in 1991 by French software house Silmarils.
I assume that these pre-release screens were made available to the CPC press as a way of raising interest/expectation in the game.
As these are standard 17K screens I'll use the ViDi Rom to look at them first (no palette files!) and then Run the BASIC loader to display them correctly.
Note:
Being standard (as opposed to overscan) screens means you can load them into any of the art programs available for the CPC.

Not emulated - original hardware and software.
Please note that  the aspect ratio for this YouTube video is 16:9 but the CPC monitor
has an aspect ratio of 4:3 so you may wish to adjust your viewing device accordingly.

I always loved the visual design of the game (thanks to SSM), it was quite unique on the Amstrad CPC.

The french CPC magazines mentioned the technical achievements of the game (overscan, songs transferred from Atari ST, huge sprites etc etc)
I can still remember how hyped I was ! :)

But, once released, the game itself was a disappointment to me. Yes, there were all the things mentioned above, but it was slow and the gameplay did not have anything great. And the loading times were so long !

(trolling/off-topic: I got hyped too with Prehistorik 2 and this time, I was amazed.)

My current project is Sonic GX, a remake of Sonic the Hedgehog for the awesome Amstrad GX-4000 game console!
