Hi guys.

Not sure if this is the right part of the forum, so feel free to move it if it's not.

Are there any usable tutorials or guides for converting tape based software to either CDT or DSK formats?

I see lots of potential meterial about but would appreciate any recommendation on how one would go about creating these files given the resources we have at hand in 2022.

Thanks in advance.

The easy way: Have a look at CPC Power. They probably got the DSK (or CDT) already  ;) :)

I did, a lot of their stuff is French (understandably).  I'm looking at UK based images really.

Look again - while the site is French it has practically everything including all the english and spanish versions of games. It's highly unlikely for a game to be available elsewhere and not be on CPCPower already (current commercial releases excluded, obviously).

The tool that was suggested by the cpc-power admin was either Samp2CDT or CSW2CDT : http://cngsoft.no-ip.org/csw2cdt.htm
It has support for various protections, but unfortunately, it's a bit of a black box and not open source yet (as the author states "no source code yet, it's too messy" )

That website is really the go-to place for dumps, but there is still undumped software in 2022 thought. Worth checking in your collection if you have anything that's not there / different version or just to complete the scans :p

Which game is there that is French only? I actually never stumbled across a game that doesn't have the UK version at least. If not the original disk, then at least a cracked version.

But honestly I didn't recognise this for the first couple of times I visited the site. It's pretty hard to understand how to navigate it. Did you see that there are different sections for original and cracked versions?  See screenshot attached.

Lot's of German stuff is missing too. But that's of course due to the fact that German uses don't provide appropriate DSKs sadly. I'm searching for Gunship in German for decades...

Back the day I had a copy in German. I liked it so much that I even ordered the Original box for 80 DM (lots of money back the day!). And what I got was the game in French! That wasn't quite an experience to get me off cracking games.

Have to admint, I was lost with all the icons and the sheer mess that each page is.

It may have 'all' the stuff on it, but is a terrible user experience, so much so that I'm loathed to use it... :(

Once you get used to it, it's easier to find stuff and the content is massive and well organised - even if the design itself is really irritating - it's so 90s, I always wonder that there are no animated GIFs.
