I'm tempted to write to Nick Hewer for further information...
An expanding array of hardware available at www.cpcstore.co.uk (and issue 4 of CPC Fanzine!)

The Plus range will do for this decade what the 464 and 6128 did over the past six years? Yeah, that didn't happen, did it? :(

Still say they should have had a 16-bit processor with a Z80 co-processor to allow backward compatibility; i.e. Amstrad should have pulled a Sega.

That would be a long shot and at a significant cost, development- and production-wise. I doubt Amstrad could risk going into the razor/blades business model...

On paper the Plus range looked like a good idea and a way to get more out of an existing investment.  Unfortunately, the market was all about 16 bit by then so it did not matter how good the Plus was.  It is a bit like the SAM Coupe.
