Well I certainally couldn't get the auto-fire on my Star Cursor Joystick to work on my CPC, though it worked no worries on my Atari 7800 (them Asteroids didn't know what hit 'em!  ;) ).
* Using the old Amstrad Languages :D * And create my own ;)
* Incorporating the Firmware :P
* I also like to problem solve code in BASIC :)   * And type-in Type-Ins! :D

As far I remember, you can enable "Autofire" for CPC's, too.
It has something to do with a missing 5v power from the CPC's joystick jack...

But don't ask me how, I don't remember...

Oh, yes, i know - there were the CPC-specific versions of joysticks or those with the switch. I was referring to the adjustable rate - I don't think this would ever work.
