Hi Guys,
I posted here originally Six years ago asking for advice on buying an Amstrad - now SIX years later, I've finally got one !!! - (sorry it's taken so long)
Kids are growing up which means I get chance to build my dream retro cave and share it with my 15 year old son, who also loves retro stuff !
Here's our collection so far - all connected and being used:-
Two C64's, Two Atari 800XL, Atari 2600 jnr, Spectrum 48K, Gamecube, SNES, Master system, and now at last an Amstrad CPC464.
I never had chance to use an Amstrad much in the 80's but remember watching my cousin play on his and remember being impressed with the colourful bright graphics & good solid build quality of the computer.
Anyway - back to it, I've a few questions to post.
Cheers !

Not sure if "like", after all it is a 464...  I'm a 6128 dude...

Welcome back anyway, this forum is made for questions to be answered.

now the serious ones : will you buy some peripheral cards to turn it into a massively RAMed and ROMed and PseudoFloppied beast it deserves to become ?

Is he fighting a C64?  ;D
With all that moaning and straining and the facial expression at 1:25 my guess is constipation.  ;D

Can't beat the original! Get the 6128, everything else is Kindergarten!  8) :)

Erm... The CPC 464 most definitely *was* the original CPC.

Could not agree more. Nathan and me spent far too long today playing Gauntlet on CoinOps (arcade original) I was Wizard, he was Valkirie, we got to level 64. Thank god we did not have to keep pumping 10p's into the x-arcade lol.

I'm lucky enough to have a Significant Other who enjoys retro games and has even gotten into chiptunes and stuff; we play on my arcade cab pretty often and other times she plays with her MegaDrive or Master System while I'm doing my stuff, and it feels great (oh, and we greatly enjoy the occasional Puyo Pop Fever vs game on my Dreamcast!) - but I guess doing this with your kid takes it to another level altogether...

Silly question, was the 2600 Jnr the revised edition?

Just never heard it being called that before.

No, the first edition is the one they call the "Heavy Sixer" (Six toggle switches and much heavier than the revised versions). The next (revised) version was the one with only four toggle switches which was followed by the "Darth Vader" (all black instead of wood effect). The Jnr came after these as far as I know.

Silly for me to ask since a Jnr is what I have, though I got mine after Atari stop launching new games for it, and was picking up pre-loved games from the toy shop, though had tracked down where I could get new boxed games.  :)

Actually there was a "light sixer" after the HS as well, which had both internal and cosmetic differences... and I think by then all production had moved out of the US.

Bryce

Oh yeah, forgot to include that one.  ::)

That would make the Light Sixer more collectable then. :D
