Hi,

This is me

First game I remember playing is Rats on Convergent Technology

The games which inspired Snipes on Novell
https://www.networkworld.com/article/2297960/novell-and-the-computer-game-that-changed-networking.html
which has already a great port here
https://github.com/Davidebyzero/Snipes

First computer home was a second hand CPC 464 where I bought the 2 games I played in local bar:
- Wonderboy
- Arkanoid Revenge of Doh
I do also recall spending hours on Manic Miner and Ping Pong.

First programming language was C and "kernighan and ritchie" book was my bible.

So what now?
I bought a German version of my French CPC464!
I live in a country where they have no clue about Amstrad but C64 was everywhere
I want to make my own version of Rats on CPC

How far I am?
- Barely installed CPCTelera
- Cannot even move a rat without glitch!

Be prepared you will have a lot of dumb questions on the forum
:picard:
Rats! Rats! Rats!

Welcome to the forum!
Good luck with the game.
Really looking forward to seeing your progress with it.

Hi, this is the good place to ask your questions.

Sykobee (Briggsy)

Good luck! Are you going to do it in MODE 2 to match?

Hi,

I am not shooting for perfect match of the original (snipes project is for example more in this mindset).
I just want to reproduce most of the game mechanic + few of my ideas ... and make the configuration as flexible as possible including the visualization.

For example :
- you want your own sprites e.g (bomberman, star wars .....) ... go for it!
- you want to set the maze complexity ... go for it!
- you want your shots to bounce on the wall ... go for it!
- you want 30% of the rats to be smart and 70% of them to be dum ... go for it!
... etc

In that perspective I though Mode 0 is more opened for including creation/variation, so this the direction I go

but for now I am very far from the competence to implement all my ideas
Rats! Rats! Rats!
