Look what I found

Computa cassette tapes 10 x Pack C15 - Tapeline Ltd

I remember having these exact same tapes back in the day for my CPC. Now I wish I had a CPC so I have an excuse to buy a pack.

CPC_Fan

I remember buying C-15 tapes for my original 464 as well. I don't recall buying any of that particular make though. I think that I brought most of mine from my local WH Smith store.

Gryzor

Heh... Here in Greece another brand was quite popular - translucent plastic of a goldish/brownish hue and the reels resembled old tape reels like so:

Anyone knows what I'm talking about?

Bryce

Yes, in fact I still have some of those :) They look like this: http://forum2.magnetofon.de/bildupload/tape-eagle-c15.jpg

Oh man... Got tears in my eyes right now :`)

All my self-written shite BASIC programs are saved on those. I probably still have a blank lying around somewhere. If I find it I'll send you one over.

Gryzor

Stop it, I'm crying!

Ok, i'm not, but if you would it'd be awesome-er than the two earthquakes last night... I gave all of mine away with my 464, so just the smell of it would open the floodgates...

I think one of them contains a 64k expansion. Or a DDI clone or something.

Yes, I'm sure they'd be great examples of how NOT to do things :D I didn't move to hardware because I was such a great coder you know! :D

They've got that exact tape here too: Reel2Reel C15 x 10 cassettes - Tapeline Ltd although even in the sale they are pricey.

Gryzor

These are not precisely the same, though it may be the same brand. But the price is a bit over the top...

Bryce

I love their 1.0000001x Zoom feature when you run the mouse pointer over the picture. :D

Bryce.

Bryce

I found two of those tapes last night (unfortunately both full Gryzor), but they are C60 tapes, so the "reel" gets filled completely. I'll do a picture when I have time.

Bryce.

Gryzor

Ah... Oh well, thanks for looking :) Yes, I'm not sure they were C15 to tell you the truth, but a pic would be nice :)

Bryce

Just for you Gryzor:

Ahhh those are lovely... Though not quite the ones I had (which were a deeper shade of brown/yellow).

Great stuff - if I had one I'd frame it and put it on a wall next to the 3" disk and the signed copy of Into Oblivion I have :)

How would I load the programs then? I still use this and the other cassettes. This one has Atari 800XL games on both sides.

Bryce

And loose the pleasure of using these cassettes!!??

Frame it *in* a cassette recorder with the leads coming out the back so you can load it from the wall [emoji4]

That's the whole point of that thread, who else would do multicoloured graphics using SYMBOL, PLOT, SCR PIXELS, SCR FLOOD BOX & write a Sprite Driver in BASIC!   I also made a couple with SCR HORIZONTAL & SCR VERTICAL, but that got it's own thread.  :D
