Title: ChinnyVision 30 Years Of The CPC 6128 - A Chinny Perspective
Post by: chinnyhill10 on 12:57, 18 December 15
This isn't a game review so thought I'd leave it here instead. Last video of the year and marks 30 years this Christmas since a brand new CPC 6128 turned up in our house.

I take a look back at my own CPC 6128 journey and focus on what made the 6128 the ideal home computer for me.

Expect the video comments to get heated due to some of the things I say. But did anyone ever buy a C64 or Speccy for anything other than games (the answer is of course no).

My aunt bought a ZX Spectrum for my cousins to "learn about computers" on. Naturally, all they ever did was play games on it.

I love stuff like this. It's kind of why I write my Gamer Diaries every month. Absolutely brilliant video, except it needed to be longer  ;)

So much stuff I skipped but in ChinnyVision terms that video took forever to do (given I have to average 1 video a week throughout the year, that one was produced across 3 weeks).

I hate to break it to you but most people bought Speccies to play games on.

you probably could have run a space station using a cpc6128, or a collection of them, my spectrum was used for games nothing else, the CPC the serious stuff and games.

Great video, at the end that's what I realize matters about the CPC. It was like an 8bit PC. I wanna lick that manual!

Chinny like you I used my original 6128 right up to 1991 for serious stuff, wp, programming and now and again games.

switched to PCs and MACs (original not the overpriced average computers CRApple put out now) in 1992

In the video I talk about a friend of my Dad's called David who came to our house Christmas day '85 to help with the machine and gave us 3 discs full of games with a menu system on each side. Sorry to say I've just been told he died this morning.

Haven't seen him since the early 90's but that guy not only had a CPC setup we would have all killed for, but set us up with an awesome selection of software included photocopied manuals. Naughty, yes, but I'll forever be grateful for all those Amsoft and type-in titles.
