Hi been looking around the Wiki but couldn't find what I'm looking for.
I'm looking for a way to transfer .DSK images to Real CF2's. Similar to ADF2Disk on the Amiga.
Is there a way to connect the 6128 to a PC and write a .DSK image back to a CF2 on the 6128.

I only have a few blank CF2's which came with my 6128. I'd like to be able to put CPM etc back onto CF2 so I can atleast format disk etc.

Alternatively can an FD1 be connected to a PC or Catweasel MK4.

As I've been away from the Amstrad Scene for OH 21 years <cough> are there any mods available like
IDE drives, Compact Flash adaptors etc ?

Cheers

Hi Jurassicc,
there are many ways to do this, here's just some of them:

a) Connect a 3.5" drive to your CPC: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Guide_on_how_to_connect_a_3.5%22_drive_to_a_CPC6128/664    then use ManageDsk: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/ManageDSK  to copy the DSK to a real 3.5" Drive.

b) Directly connect your CPC to a PC, either with the Printer Port (not very reliable on new PCs) or through a USB port:  http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/HxC_Floppy_Emulator

c) Buy an SD Floppy Emulator: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/HxC_SDCard_Internal

There are other methods available, such as connecting the CPC floppy to a PC, but these are the most commonly used solutions.

For PC:
CPCDiskXP

www.cpcmania.com

Write to a 3.5" disc. And use a 3.5" disc drive on CPC.
Or, put DDI-1 into PC and write direct to 3" drive.

Or another alternative is to find and buy a CPCBooster. This is a serial interface and you can connect to PC using it.

Or, alternative is to make a parallel cable for PC. This connects CPC to PC using CPC printer connector.

For Amiga:

dsk2real in a-cpc tools
http://www.cpctech.org.uk/
downloads
But this is unsupported and many dsks may not transfer.

Other tools also exist here for formatting dsks and for transfering discs.

Tested on basic A1200.

I think that a solution would be to connect a 3" drive to a PC. (Use google translate if you cannot read spanish).

That way you could make images of 3" disk and write them back. It's a bit tricky but once it works, your life is much easier  8)

I partly agree with Rob here; connecting a 3" drive to the PC is the simplest method to go about it - why tricky?

Bryce

Adding a 3.5" Drive B: is relatively easy too though and due to only owning a few CF2s, it can't harm to have a second format available on the CPC.

Heh... a bit OT, but my girlfriend was eyeing me a couple of hours ago building the ultimate setup (6128, mem expansion, HxC SD, Symbiface on the side, 3.5" drive on top) and said one word: "eBay".

Well, I guess it'll be quite nice in a few years :D

...of my girlfriend? :D

Nothing special that you haven't seen before: the monitor sitting on an IKEA stool, the CPC dangling precariously on the top of a Plus monitor on the floor. SFII at the back of the monitor, HxC on top of the CPC's drive (is there a risk of shorting somethin?), joystick cable running across the floor to my desk. I'd better do some housekeeping in here before she gets back from her sister's... :D
