Title: Flashback Frustration!
Post by: crayzyian on 15:10, 28 April 20

All,

I had a flashback today when looking at my CPC game collection.

I remember being a member of a game club in the mid-to-late 1980s, a bit like the Britannia Music Club I guess (was it a Britannia game club?!), whereby you had to buy so many games per quarter/year or whatever.  It was the usual rip-off I think, although I remember getting the following;

Dodgy Geezers (a freebie I seem to remember!)
Out Run
Return of the Jedi
Grand Prix Selection (Super Sprint/Championship Spring/Super Hang-On)
Arkanoid II - Revenge of Doh
TV Special (Krypton Factor/Every Second Counts/Blockbusters)

Can anyone remember the name of this club??

Yep - correct!  Found some images online.  Felt like a rip-off at the time, although I was quite young.  I wonder if it was...

I recall a friend of mine talked his mother into signing up for the Atari ST... Needless to say she wasn't best pleased when she realised the true commitment that she had signed up for!

How did they enforce the obligation to keep buying?
