Title: Great demo in progress, we need you!
Post by: Rhino on 02:12, 03 June 09
Hello

I'm Rhino, the coder of an old Amiga demoscene group called Batman Group.
At that time we did some demos for A500 like "Batman Vuelve" which can be viewed at this link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaCgxYyhx4c (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaCgxYyhx4c)

After 14 years since our last demo we want to return to the scene with which it will probably be the best demo for 8 bits including Amstrad CPC and C64.
The reason is that Amstrad was the machine where we learned to program and believe that is clearly undervalued. We want to do justice to our cherished
machine.

We have produced about 60% of the routines now, but we need the optimal source code support for play music and track disk access. We are not experts
in these aspects of CPC programming and probably the best solution for this is already invented, if the source code are public domain, we appreciate those
who help us find them, or if the author gives us permission to use and wishes be included in the credits of the demo.

We also need to know what is the best way to compose music for the CPC, the best tools for this, we used always the classic Octamed in Amiga and we
are a bit lost in CPC. Probably also need some graphic support, we accept suggestions from anyone who wants to participate in the project...

We appreciated your help in advance.

Thanks,

Rhino.

Welcome back then to the greatest scene  :)
Really nice to see that old users return to our scene! Wish the best!
The two link that Alcofribas provided can really help you a lot!
The thing that I made this post is to use Starkos v1.2 for composing your musics! Is by far the best square-wave-composing utility for CPC!
As for the gfx, if you have ready some screens on amiga you can transfer them in CPC. There are various utilities that can help you!
One of them is http://genesis8.free.fr/frontend/graphic/iffcon11.lzh (http://genesis8.free.fr/frontend/graphic/iffcon11.lzh) (IFF CONVERTER by Face Hugger)! If you have any screens in your PC you can use ConvImg by Demoniak! That can be found here http://cpcrulez.fr/emulateurs_UTILGRAdownload.htm (http://cpcrulez.fr/emulateurs_UTILGRAdownload.htm)
Then you can re-touch your screens under OCP art studio!
If you need any help, PM me :)

HI Rhino

Back on the CPC, thats great news.. Seems you did some really nice stuff for the Amiga back in the day. Will be nice to see that magic on the CPC!

For graphic support also don't miss out on http://cpcwiki.eu/index.php/AMSprite (//http:///index.php/AMSprite) a great utility for creating sprites of any size and mode.

I would like to help, but I am tied down helping out on the XeO3 project for the CPC . Here AMSprite is of great help!

Regards,
Ygdrazil

Thanks voXfReaX,

Your suggestions are interesting to take advantage of our old Amiga demo graphics.
Now, we are using "Promotion" for the graphics with small own tools to convert to the format required by each effect. It is the tool that most resembles the old Amiga Deluxe Paint... :)
