Hello everybody  :) .

I am the owner of CPC6128 (for the moment and I'm working on it). In my youth I used the Commodore brand hardware. Amstrad bought recently and discovered what a great computer. It is a pity that previously did not recognize him, but to catch up.
I apologize for any mistakes, but I'm still learning English.

Greetings

Morn

Hi Homer Simpson!  :D

C64 users are usually shocked how fast the CPC disc drive is compared to the 1541. The CPC also has a larger colour palette than the C64 and a faster CPU. And CP/M. And a BASIC version that doesn't suck.

So yeah, the CPC is pretty cool.  :)

@Morn You're right, I am shocked capabilities of the CPC. I was using CP/M on the C128. I am very pleased that the CPC can also run CP/M out-of-box. Excellent is also the fact that there are many extensions and is a very large community support. It's wonderful  :)
Thank you for your welcome.

CPC6128 is the more practical choice as it enables to connect almost everythings on it and its compact design is quite comfortable.

Also iti s good to see someone from Poland being the owner of a CPC6128... those are quite rare in eastern europe.

Welcome here.

CPC6128s were not definitely common in Poland, but they weren't that rare too. Interestingly they were provided for Solidarity anticommunist underground for word pressing purposes. My own 6128 was actually used starting from late 80s I believe in my dad's engineering company mostly for WordStar I presume and my pa used to bring it home for weekends for kids' entertainment (what a brilliant idea it was ;) ).
PS Welcome / siemanko  :)

It is true that Amstrads never been popular in Poland. :(
The need to buy a monitor and shipping costs meant 2 times higher price than for other 8 bits. There was only one company 'PolAnglia' which was the official representative of Amstrad in Poland. But you had to pay in pounds, and Polish currency (Zloty) was difficult to exchange for others. Borders was closed until 1989. No company from west offered software in Poland. Neither they did not wanted sending it to Poland. In practice, 100% of software was pirated and there was several times less than for other platforms. Only a small business selling Polonized text editors and offered modify 8bit in printer port and disk drive 5.25". CPC had a reputation good but serious computer, not for gaming.

Polish CPC holders were not enough numerous to have your magazine. But there were 3 monthly cross-platform magazine, with stuff about CPC.

Bajtek - from 1986 to 1994 every month was from 2 to 4 pages about CPC. :) But quite often they were boring things about CP/M, especially towards end of this period.
atarionline.pl/Bajtek

IKS - edited by Polish army officers, mainly published listings, usually quite long and serious. And about 1/5 of them were for CPC.
atarionline.pl/IKS

Komputer - occasionally published short Tricks and POKEs for CPC.
atarionline.pl/Komputer

But once in second issue in 1986, there was a lot about Amstrads. Note that in 1985, CPC was a 'Computer of the Year'. The big pictures and positive description of CPC 6128 and PCW 8256, and interview with boss of "PolAnglia" about fact that Polish companies often buy them.

No wonder that in a questionnaire at end of 1987 years as much as 15% of readers planned to buy the CPC. But in fact, only those who had uncle sailor had Scheider 464 and sometimes some magazines from Western Europe. And they often looked with envy at colleagues what they had other computers and much more games. In the same survey we find out what kind computers readers had:

38% - ZX Spectrum
30% - Atari XL/XE
11% - Commodore
5% - Amstrad CPC

5 years later in 1992.

31% - PC
30% - Commodore
21% - Amiga
19% - ZX Spectrum
10% - Atari XL/XE
6% - Atari ST
3% - Amstrad CPC

As you can see, some already have more than 1 computer. A CPC is still fourth place between 8 bits. ;) But still not much, even less.

On other hand Amstrads 6128 with green monitors were often purchased for universities, schools for army officers and police stations. And in the early 90's of these institutions to exchange old computers with new PCs,  were sold very cheaply 6128 at a price of C64 with cassette recorder, but still almost no one wanted buy it, because he had reputation of computers not for gaming. But then I bought my first computer in my life CPC 6128. :)

I want invite Polish users to the only Polish-language forum about CPC.

Zapraszam polskich użytkowników na jedyne polskojęzyczne forum o CPC. :)
