Title: Hello from Greece
Post by: Geo Anas on 11:22, 28 July 16
Hi there,

My name is George and I've been a lurker for quite a long time. After many moons, I decided to -finally- be also a registered user, just to give my heartily respect to all fine users and programmers, active in Amstrad scene  :)

I've been a member to all major Greek forums since day 1 and I am also a member of administrator team of iamretro (http://www.iamretro.gr/)
My fields of interests are mainly three: Commodore 64, Vectrex and real arcade boards. I like to tinker with electronics, doing basic repairs.
My CSDb (C64 scene database) tag is [CSDb] - GeoAnas/K&A Plus (http://csdb.dk/scener/?id=27265) and I am also participating in editorial staff of 'K&A plus' fanzine English | Languages | Komoda & Amiga plus, Komoda & Amiga plus (http://ka-plus.pl/en/) and
[CSDb] - K&A Plus (Poland) (http://csdb.dk/group/?id=8090)

Even I was (and still am) a C64 fanboy, I never hided my admiration for Amstrad machines (Got 2 GX4000 consoles, 1 CPC 464 and 1 CPC 6128 in my collection)

Once again...I feel very comfy, being here !...I think, I'll hang around for a while  :D

George

Oh, so you've no respect for the hardware guys? :D And you're a C64 fanboy! :D

I think we have too many Greek members at this stage! Gryzor can we do something about... Oh wait, he's probably the wrong person to ask :)

But seriously, welcome to the party Geo.

Bryce.

I was about to make a joke about the hardware guys but I'll be asking them for advice shortly so I will keep shut...

For now  :D

Welcome to the forums George

Welcome George!!!

@Bryce (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=225) : He is a hardware guy too  ;D

Thanks Vince!  :D

Yes, generally speaking, hardware had always appealed to me. Being a physiotherapist in real life, electronics is mainly my hobby. I am only a young apprentice, having some basic knowledge and skills, enough to fix some of my busted arcade boards or modding old hardware using modern implementations (multicarts, alternate kernals, disk speaders, ram add-ons, dual SIDs etc etc...) I have uploaded plenty of YT videos with my adventures in hardware land  :D

Truth is that I am Bryce's fan  :) , following some of his projects during last years. As I said, I was a lurker for quite a long time  ;)

I only wish I had more free time to get more into Amstrad machines. CPCs always fascinated me, although my first micro was a C64, my father bought me as a present back in middle '80s...
Reasons? : Z80 and AY-3-8912...exactly the same configuration with many -cherished  :) - '80s arcade boards like 'EXERION' (2XZ80,2X8910), (my all time favourite ;D ) and Vectrex console that has also the same sound chip. Love its sound!...Love 8bits...Love '80s pure and unspoiled power!

Glad you like my hardware musings. I haven't had a chance to do much lately due to other (hardware) commitments, but I have some ideas and there'll be more to come in the future.

Bryce.

Hello and welcome! Nice story that one of yours, I like arcade boards a lot but to be honest I never had the time or (more importantly) the space to tinker with them  :D

Thank you all. Your kind words gave warm to an old heart  :D

@ AMSDOS

Ha!Ha! This Count image is somehow bonded to me. It was taken out of an arcade flyer or something...I can't recall right now. It was my very first avatar, chosen ages ago  :D
I didn't stop use it to any forum I am a member of  ;)

George welcome here as well!
We met when you hold the first meeting of retromaniax forum, years ago at your place..
Hope you remember!

For me you're the best collector in Greece and a great person to meet.
Glad to see you here!

Hey there !!!

What a nice surprise !!!
I've lost your tracks lately. Seems you have vanished from all Greek forums (?)  :)

It's been quite a long time since we first met but I still remember we had a good time indeed, chatting about Amstrad (not only  ;) ) scene and stuff...I also remember Peter (wasn't this his name? ) being so deeply absorbed by playing and breaking his high scores on CD32  ;D

I still remember you didn't show up for the lunch !!! :P :D :D

Correct! !

Petros is the famous Antitec from Dirty Minds... Also a hardware guru but inactive for many years...

I am not vanished but the forums are not very active nowadays I believe.

Anyway my interests is coding mainly.

In fact me and Rex are fixing something for the cpc plus!!

Now you're the first to know!
Hope we finish this, though progress is very slow...

CPC Plus? Great news !!!
Speaking of 'Plus', guess what I did today ? Programming eproms out of converted .cpr -> .bin game images, taken from the excellent CPC GX4000 repository...
(Got plenty of 1001 ones  :D )

Running and testing all of them to my lovely console. It was about time to take her ( ;) ) out of the closet....I think she's on fire now !!! LOL !!!  8)

Sorry guys I cannot speak about it...
I can only say it is a game 128kb only. And if you have more ram, you avoid level loadings ..

;D

Don't worry; once Greece is out of the EU I'll hand over the domain (it's a .eu one after all) and we'll be done with it.

Of course, within a couple of years Brits will start getting banned, too...
