Hey

I have a lot of fond memories of Amstrad since cpc 6128 was my first computer. Had I known better back in -87 when I walked into a book/comp store with my parents things might have been different but alas no time to worry about spilled milk. I know I'm not the only one who got it here but at the time and living in the boonies I ended up the one weird kid with it instead of the more prevalent commodore 64. Even msx machines were more common. For some reason or another Spectrum never made it big here. All the other friends were just copying games and I ended up wasting all my allowance in buying games and mags for quite some time. I never found AA in the stores here so I had to rely on ACU augmented with the likes of C+VG/Ace/TGM. Can I blame the covers for wanting a konix multisystem? During the PC era I've fooled around with emulators from time to time but it never felt right so finally I decided to get the old extremely dirty machine going. I remember the original monitor having been repaired at one point or another but using it felt like a sure fire hazard. You know those nice crackle and pop bangs when you turn it on/off? I'm not sure if I went about it absolutely optimal way and ended up with a load of cable spaghetti. What I regret the most now is getting rid of the old joysticks. Terminator (danish hand grenade) along with Tac 2 were my favourites and now I only have a competition pro here stored "somewhere".

Hi Thoth,

Welcome to the forum! Looks like a nice set-up there and the image quality on the screen looks good. I'm particularly enjoying the 'Joystick Demon From Hell' sticker!

My wife is Finnish so I've been many times and I have a strong affection for your country. Good to see there are some CPC users there too!  :)
An expanding array of hardware available at www.cpcstore.co.uk (and issue 4 of CPC Fanzine!)

Thanks :) I think the sticker came with an old c+vg if my swiss cheese like memory serves me right. You really have to watch out for the Finnish women! I wonder if CPC users are like the Spanish inquisition. You never know when or where they pop up.

Welcome, Thoth! You weren't weird, you were 'special'! :D

Just kidding... a happy coincidence that here in Greece the CPC was so prevalent that we were throwing around 3" disks during school breaks in random to take home and go through!

Hope you enjoy it here :)

I just might be weird enough to like it here  :-X . Funny part about amstrad disks were that they still worked after throwing them around. I always could throw them longer than a 5.25" floppy. If someone had had a sharp with a 2.8" drive I might have been in trouble.
