Hello Everyone

Found this site due to my 464+ developing a fault, surprised and disappointed in myself for not researching more of the system and joining earlier.

Had my system for what i have now worked out is 29yrs, it had seen a lot more action in the last 6 months than it had in years as my 2 kids are now interested in seeing the "old" toys Daddy used to play with.

So the CPC & GX4000 i have are suddenly cool, according to my eldest anyway.
Pretty sure cool means something else nowadays?!?

I'm hoping to sort my system out, and hopefully get some actual knowledge of the system while i'm here.

Looking forward to chatting with you all :)

Welcome to the forum! Glad to hear the old computers are seeing some use!

I'm surprised to hear your kids are interested in the old machines, as tech has progressed light years since then.

Just make sure they don't end up in fights over 2 player gauntlet like we used to!

Hope you have fun with the CPCs!

Welcome!

If you never researched Amstrad sites, then you don't know about all the new game releases there's been? Then you're in for somewhat of a huge Christmas present.  :)
So many awesome new games has been released in recent years / decades. Oh yes, the Amstrad CPC never died.  8)

Favorites vary depending on the individual. And there have really been too many for me to list them all. But some titles you should definitely check out are:
"Teodoro no sabe volar"
"Dead on Time"
"Star Sabre"
"Orion Prime"
"Pinball Dreams"
"Scramble"
"Dawn of Kernel"
"Operation Alexandra"
"Bubble Bobble" (new version that does the CPC more justice)
"R-type" (new version that does the CPC more justice)

Those will get you started. But the list is much longer. I'm sure someone else will add more titles.  :)

I don't know if i can subject myself to either Bubble Bobble or R-Type, i think i had blocked out the fact they were on the 464 cause they were dreadful to be polite.

One series of games im surprised hasn't had more attention is Dizzy, really thought there would have been an updated modern platformer by now.

That's exactly why some groovy people decided to make new versions of both those games.
I'm not talking about the old versions. These are new versions, that you should definitely check out.
They do the CPC much more justice than the old versions.

I'll defo need to give them a look, i remember even as a kid being confused by how bad they were, I couldn't understand why they were that bad & why i was charged money for them lol.
