Title: Hi folks
Post by: Scarlettkitten on 18:23, 22 April 15
Hi

I decided to venture into this forum to see what the cpc is all about, I'm big into demos and music so I may write a few tunes on the cpc, I'll see how it goes. So far I've a 6128 and green screen monitor and I have a 6128plus on the way. I'm looking forward to seeing what these machines can do in the plastic rather than on emulators.

welcome. The more musicians the better ;) I really enjoy CPC music, and now we have the play city and it's 6 channels of fun the potential is superb.

If you like demos then give batman forever and breaking baud a look on your CPC 6128 and the releases by semilanceata on the plus.

Thanks for the warm welcome peeps  :)  I think I'm going to try amstrad trackers first and maybe a pixel painter if I can snag a mouse.

Welcome!

There are some good tools on the CPC itself - Starkos.
And one which you can compose on PC build data for CPC - Arkostracker.

There is a tracker which can produce synth sounds made by BSC - forget it's name - does "sid" like sounds. Definitely worth trying out.

So plenty of sound tools to use :)

In terms of pixel drawing, OCP Art Studio is powerful and you can use an AMX (or compatible) mouse.
Or you can do the work on GIMP and transfer it to CPC using some tools.

Bryce made a mouse interface that can use PC mice on a CPC.

If you need help to put it all together to make a demo feel free to ask and check out the programming section.

Will do thanks  :)

What's the best paint package mouse option for a 6128plus? There's so many options  :o

Also G-Paint is a great tool if you like to use a proportional mouse.  :)

If you mean using the plus palette, then there is a patched version of ocp advanced art studio or I think there was a gpaint that used the extra colours too.

Not too fussed about the plus palette tbh. would an amx mouse work on the plus machines? I think I read somewhere that the atari st mouse adapter doesn't.

Yes, Perfectly.

If the palette does not bother you too much, then I would go with OCP Advanced art Studio.

I have a spare manual it you want a paper copy, or I think it's available on line.. If not I'll scan it and make it available.

Regards

Craig.

ps. I love the Pink Flower BTW :)

Right, the ST mouse doesn't work with the Plus. The AMX mouse it ok too. Works with OCP Art studio.  :)

ST Mouse?

If you mean Symbiface then true it does not, but the Bryce adaptor does, and works fine with OCP.

@talrek made a batch of @bryce mouse adaptors last year. Hopefully he might be tempted to solder some more after he is finished with the mf2+

No I mean the mouse of the Atari ST, which is proportional. It's also supported by G-Paint (and FutureOS). You only need an adapter, which basically provides power to the mouse. That's all. It should be in the CPCWiki.

Atari-ST mouse adapter - CPCWiki (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Atari-ST_mouse_adapter)

Maybe someone could make it running with the Plus too???

I made a 20x25 Block Text Editor (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/programming/silly-programming-ideas-turning-text-into-graphics/msg95828/#msg95828) if that's of any help  :D

But it needs some updates which I hope will be done today (Saturday). I started working on the INKs, but I should be working on Saving & Loading the Pics into it before all that. Because it's Low-res graphics those files will be small and what I was hoping to do was convert it back to Graphic Pixels (obviously up to 20x25). I'm also going to alter the program so each PEN represents each number on the keyboard which saves pressing "C" all the time to change the colour and guess what the colour is.  :D
