Hi all.
My name's Doki. I've been a consumer and creator of video games for many years, with a particular interest in the 8-16bit era.
I grew up playing the Atari VCS and SEGA Master System. I was a bit too young to be trusted around micro-computers in the '80s heyday, and the Spectrum was the only computer I'd heard of as my elder cousin had one!
After a few more years, I finally got my way and got my very own Spectrum +2, so there's a good chance that I played different (inferior, perhaps!) versions of games that most of you loved.
Alas, my dear old Speccy died in 1996, taking my memories of programming with BASIC with it, but on one fateful sunny May Bank Holiday, I came home from a car-boot sale £40 out of pocket if I remember correctly, along with a new destiny in life as a proud owner of an Amstrad CPC464 and around thirty games!
Time went by, and priorities changed as I got older and more responsible. I have no recollection of what happened to my CPC, it may have ended up in the attic whilst I was trying to save space, but as I earned more money I started to rebuild my games collection, and one day I'd very much like to be able to play the Amsoft classics on the original hardware. The GX4000 with a C4CPC seems to offer the easiest way to do this.
So that's how I got into Amstrad; I could also mention that the name stood out for me, being a fan of Tottenham Hotspur FC. I hope to hang around and get to know the CPC scene.
Cheers,
Doki
