I feel like I am on a different timeline

Hi everyone, I am a longtime geek from Italy and I have been digging computers since I was 12 or so (40 years have passed since then). Anyho, I just wanted to say how incredibly weird it is that I only found out about Amstrad CPC computers only this year. I mean, like they have always have been there flying under the radar but I never even really noticed them. It's crazy because these machine are incredibly interesting and very cleverly built and possess lots of nice features that other 8bits could only dream of. So to cut it short, I recently became the owner of a 6128 and a couple of 464s, one of which is sadly not working, so I am probably gonna post here for help one of these days. Been lurking here for a while and finally had to introduce myself.

My first computer was a Commodore 128. I guess Amstrads were never popular in Italy back in the day for some reason. I remember in my youth only seeing Commodores and Spectrums around mostly

The only c128 I saw back in the day (and damn, I so want one now) was at the shop we used to buy our (totally original, I swear) games.

The only c128 I saw back in the day (and damn, I so want one now) was at the shop we used to buy our (totally original, I swear) games.

Did you ever use the Z80 in it?

I briefly tried my hand with some z80 assembler on the C128 but I never fully used it for anything as I did not have a floppy drive and could not boot CP/M

I haven't explored much yet but I have to say I have a weak spot for adventure games. I found one such game that is inspired to Neil Gaiman's Sandman and I am loving it. I can understand French and Spanish too so I am planning to dig into French and Spanish adventure games too. Other than that I would say classics like Arkanoid are always nice to play especially if you have some nice joystick. Any recommendations?

You can try for homebrew games like The Key part 1 & 2 & Doomsday Lost Echoes and B.A.T. & Captain Blood from the commercial era

That's great! Understanding French and Spanish is going to make your CPC game journey MUCH better, especially for adventures.

Try the Spanish text adventure Megacorp (also available for the C64). As a Spaniard, it's my favorite Spanish game of all time! It's a rare case of an 80s adventure with actual fair puzzles that never get too easy or too hard. The sci-fi setting is pretty cute too. I also highly recommend downloading and reading the disk version Spanish manual (tape manual is the same, but looks worse) where they explain you must use imperative ("abre" for "open") instead of infinitive ("abrir").

Oh and don't be distracted by the girl in the loading screen... It never appears on the game!

Here's something interesting for the OP... CPC Power lets you filter "dumps" (all games, demos, etc.) by final language, and there are 2 pages of dumps in Italian!
